New POS structure: Deep space medical facility

Basically it's just a medical bay that you can anchor to your tower. Offset is that it takes up a very large amount of space to online; 500k PG and 1k CPU to fit; ideally you'd be setting up a separate POS with some room for defensive batteries. Would be a big help to people in w-space and independent/small corps, including those who live outside of w-space, but would like to have permanent assets in a nice hole they've settled in for day trips or a hideaway.

Since the stated direction for this game's future is to move AWAY from empire-based control over capsuleers, this seems like a decent enough idea towards moving that way I'd like to think.
BTW; if a full medical facility sounds like too much, I'd be fine with it just being an anchorable clone vat bay; I thought it would be nice to be able to update clone after a pod loss. The more independence for our w-space brothers and sisters the better.

Yes please!

Hey I think I did put something similar in a POS thread last week, still like it and as you said everyone in w-space will love you too Big smile

Make it so that you cannot use it in null or lowsec.

*sigh* The nostalgia. My very first thread was about this, so many years ago. It almost feels like coming home. They did break the old forum links, though, so that thread is 404.

I don't want to cyberstalk your character, so I don't know if you remember that it only took 5 years to give stealth bomber the covert ops cloak.

Let's not give up hope just yet.

I would like this. I recall some developer interest in giving players more control over clones, so perhaps something like this is in the cards for the eventual POS update. That was a couple Fanfests ago, however, and much has changed since then.

Maybe NPC null? I admit I have a soft spot for the angels, but i likely won't ever have enough standing to plunk a JC in one of their stations.

IDK I kind of like the idea of being able to circumvent the issue with standing reqs with this thing; since we're getting away from empire control I don't see why it should be banned from their space. Maybe lowsec being the highest sec available would be acceptable.

What's the problem? Just don't make it usable in W-space, just like the clone bay in a Rorqual.

Wouldn't this require the ability for players to dock in the same manner as stations?

Also, would this not make WH life 'too easy'? And, I am sure it would undo much of the power projection nerfing being implemented with Phoebe.

Obviously, the ability to build outposts is there for any Sov holder. Is this not already a balanced method of creating jump clone facilities?

Make a swap/upgrade facility only, not a Jump To location. There, problem solved.

I'm sure the idea is to allow jumping between WH and hisec. This is not an idea I support, as being kicked out of WH due to being podded is part of the risk/reward calculation. The whole concept is based on it being dangerous, with great rewards for those who have the 'nads' to cope.

Idea would be once they get podded, they respawn in a pod that's moving away from the structure in their pos. There would be no need to dock in it.

There really isn't anything about w-space life that's 'easy', and all this really does is get rid of the need of having a backup character to scout you back in when you die and respawn wherever it is that you pop up when you die. I'm sure most of us here who say that want to "live in w-space" would like something like this that actually allows them to do this; to make it feel more like home instead of a place you're squatting in.

I honestly believe there's no good reason why players should be barred from being able to use the same facilities in non-sov null and w-space as in empire space if they have the time and money to invest in it. Sure outposts are available to alliances in null, but I'm talking about individual power; If I want to retire to a quiet c1 or c2 with a null static and farm sites all day, I'd like to be able to respawn there if I have an accident and can't get back for awhile. I want to LIVE in the same space I defend if that's my choice to set up in w-space.

Pretty sure there is a CCP employee still in the himalaya to find a mystic to show him the sekret path to the POS code manual.

Also, upgrading and swapping would be awesome, jumping wouln't be.

Was convinced something similar would come out with deployables but sadly no, would be such a useful change for so many.

Yet come out into empire space to trade your ill-gotten gains? Doesn't sound like retiring to a WH, as you put it. If WH were meant to become property of the occupier then it would be possible to claim sovereignty and set up an outpost; this is NOT possible. This comes across as a way of tightening your grip on a WH without any balancing factor, such as making it harder to get into empire space.

I wouldn't be against it but consider Syndicate with a billion stations to dock at everywhere.

Maybe NPC sec could have a few more stations to dock in? Blood Raider, Guristas, Sanshas and even the Salvation Angels would like to expand their territory a few more systems across New Eden.

I believe they would like it as much as we would Smile

And no a POS modules that would have a small resurrection hub for wh-inhabitants wouldn't make the lifes easier, just shorten the empire-to-wh-space travel a bit.

The only thing you can have there is a tower or a Rorqual. You still need to get your stuff there if you want to "life" near that tower and it is not like there are no fights to be had on the way or the space itself.

Well considering the big advantage of this would be negating the need for high standings in hostile space for npc null (or lowsec if it happens) I can see this gaining a lot of popularity for people who like to day trip to npc null for whatever reason, but don't really put the time and effort in to grind standing.
