Wormhole navigation - High sec to nul & vice versa possible?

Hi

So I'm having real bad luck with gate camps going from high/low sec to nul for my exploring. So I was wondering if it's possible to find a wormhole in high sec that would eventually lead to nul sec.. Do my relic site hacks and then find wormholes to take me back to high sec.. Is this practical or would it take too long?

Thanks

IIRC there are direct highsec-to-nullsec wormholes. Don't remember how common they are, but they exist.

Just scan down whs in highsec, warp to them, show info: it will say if they lead to nullsec.

You can get back from the same wh, instead of scanning another one.

Make sure to bookmark both sides of the wormhole if you want to do this, regardless of where it goes.

The wormhole signature, for example K162*, will tell you the type of space it leads to. A list of signatures and their destinations can be found at ellatha.com. The signature will vary depending on which side of the hole you're on IIRC

*K162 means that the wormhole was opened from the other end, it's a generic incoming wormhole signature.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Wormholes 101

Yes, it's quite easy to find a route to null-sec using wormholes. Just make sure you always have a probe launcher and remember to bookmark both sides of every hole! The rest is just keeping track of where you are. The best way to do this is by noting the "class" of the wormhole system (varies from C1 to C6). I recommend a bookmarking system like this (explanation).

One thing I've never quite understood, not having done much wormhole diving: when you talk about a direct high-to-null or low-to-null wormhole, does that mean that there's one wormhole system in between with connections to both the high/low system and the null system? Or does that wormhole take you right from one known-space system to another known-space system without the W-space system in the middle?

The latter. However, the former is easier to find.

Yes, but using the in-game map to find camped systems and moving long distances with a travel fit will likely be more convenient.

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

High->Null is quite rare, and you can easily spend half of the game time to find one, and then get to a random region which might not be valuable to scan. Low->Null is more frequent but still takes some time to find one with the randomness applying as well. My recommendation is to position a clone with scanning ship in NPC Null and exfiltrate the loot when you find a suitable WH connection to low/high during casual scan.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Not only is this practical, but my preferred way to go to null for exploration vacations. Especially on the return trip to Jita to sell the loots. Sure my cloaky & interdiction-nullified T3 (with inertia stab & warp stab) gives me a good chance at slipping through camps, but there are very switched-on interceptor pilots who know to double-click and burn at you when you drop gate cloak, to decloak and tackle you before you finish aligning/warping out...
