ORE Tech2 industrial command ships. Idea

since I'm playing eve always been a thought in my head.

Why does ORE not build deffensive oriented ships?

(escort ship for the Rorqal and / or as a guard for the mining in the fields)

With either medium / heavy armament or as a drone carrier ship.

The basic model of the Orca would very well fit for it (design).

Of course not the standart orca which has its place, but maybe as a tech 2 variant with less storage capacity
(fleet hangar = gone, ship maintenance hangar = gone, Ship Cargo / ore cargo = -50%)
and the partial omission of boost capability (only one module mountable if any).

Add 2-3 weapons, and / or drones controll units (increase in the useable drones at the same time) and a bonus to armor, shields and Drone Hangar.

if you riddle why it should keep some ore cargo just think of it as the connection to the original Ore concept, also someone still could use miningdrones Cool .

lore wise i would say that ore just got info of some smuggler makeshifts and seeing a market.
So they started to build them themself.

Ships to defend miners already exist. They're called every other ship in the game.

Precisely, what use would this..."ship"...have that any other combat ship in the game can't already do in what is likely to be even better manner?

All this would be is a giant bullseye for ganks.

ORE designed a ship for security purposes its the Talos, just read its description it says it right in there.

A tech 2 Orca would be kinda cool but instead of it being some form of defensive ship, make it more viable to carry ships with an improved maintenance bay, or give it subsystems that can allow different bonuses just like a t3 cruiser.

Want a combat mining ship? Use a Procurer or Skiff. They have tanks that are above average for their class (cruisers) with nasty drone bonuses. In groups they can be dangerous.

Want logi? We already have four... two for shield and two for armor.

Want a mining command ship? That's an Orca.

Want all of the above in one ship? The answer is the Rorqual.

Seriously though, in a combat-logi configuration a Rorqual is no different from a regular carrier (dat drone bonus!!)... minus the triage module (which its industrial core should provide IMO). And if you pair up a Rorqual with some Skiffs (and/or another Rorqual) then you have the makings of a very lethal group. Add in an Orca equipped with siege warfare boosts for extra survivability for the whole fleet.

ORE does not feel the need to build defensive ships because ORE contracts defense of it's space and thus ships to the Serpentis.

edit: thus creating an offensive ship would be highly wasteful.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

Support better localization for the Japanese Community.

Had a similar idea with a Tech 2 Orca but with a different role in mind, because for protecting miners we already have enough ship types - every type which can shoot. The role of an industrial command ship clearly is "command ship" and not "battleship"

What about a "Jumpfreighter" variation of the Orca, similar to Freighter/Jump freighter but otherwise a similar role as industrial command ship like the Orca already plays?

I would love the idea of having a mobile platform I could use for fleet support in nullsec which can use cynos. A ship which can hauler 60k ore, has the possibility to transport a small pos and a compression array plus the ability to bring in some smaller ships for rock shooting or other purposes.

just 4 information the mining barges are considered as battlecruisers not cruisers. But anyway a good tanked procurer have about 100k EHP and can be used to engage enemys.

I think if anything.....

They should release a third racial variant of Command ships based on reverse engineered tech from ORE.

This will require the current prereq's for normal command ships, leaning in favor of either singular or dual combat links, rather than mining links.

It will use one of the racial NPC manufacturer skin's wrapped around the Orca.

The "flavor" text should be something along the lines of...

"To combat the rising capsuleer menace, in a shaky alliance with Outer Ring Excavations, the four empires each developed their own battle variants of the widely used Orca. Removing the ore bay, and extending the ship hangar, it was originally intended to deploy against the capsuleer hordes that threatened the established four empires of New Eden. But as is often the case with those in power, the capsuleer was underestimated, and soon, the hordes had reverse engineered these coveted ships to release their own miasma of war across the cluster, while others of the capsuleer race chose to assist their Empire roots."

As referenced in the flavor text....

No ore bay. Same sized fleet hangar, and fixed sized cargo bay.

As it is a subsection of the command ships line, it still requires the skilling of all warfare links, it should also add the skill of "Combat Repurposing," for "balance."

Warfare links should be the lowest bonus of all link bonuses per skill level.

The ship hangar should be extended to hold 2 extra cruiser sized ships, or another handful of frigs. Or one single fitted BS with maybe a singular cruiser class ship on the side.

Each of the racial variants should, of course, have some caveat that makes them a "racial variant."

Before the usual cries of...

"Well, the Orca can use combat boosts!!!!!!!!" Not with skill bonuses multipliers on the Orca.

"What you are asking for is a carrier in HS!!!!!!!!" Not at all. The only combat role, if any, that should be considered, as this would be a "staging point," would perhaps be racial e-war for defense in fitting/re-shipping. In fact, if anything, it would help keep caps out of highsec, or maintain that any capitals in highsec are still unable to be used for unfair advantage.

I have always wanted a specifically tooled "Battle Orca," and imagine how awesome a rust-bucket Minmatar Orca would look. Or an Orca in the Amarrian gold.
