Phantasm Lvl 4 Mission fit...

Hello all. I just wanted to post a fit I came up with last night and get everyone's opinion on it. Yes you read it right too; a cruiser with the capability of running Lvl 4 missions. I got this idea after tiring of using sluggish, unwieldy battleships like the Abadon for Lvl 4s. They're slow and handle like a ton of bricks, making speed running Lvl 4s a bit tedious. Well no more. This Phantasm fit will have you moving along at a respectable pace, tank large volumes of damage as well as dishing it, and look good doing it too, all while keeping the fitting cost at a reasonable price considering. But enough of me talking, here is the fit and its stats.

High Slots:
3x Quad Light Beam Laser II
1x Medium Nosferatu II

Mid Slots:
1x Gistum C-Type 10MN Afterburner
2x Pith B-Type EM Ward Field (Any Pith B-Type shield hardeners based on who we're going up against)
2x Pith B-Type Thermic Dissipation Field (Any Pith B-Type shield hardeners based on who we're going up against)
1x Large Ancillary Shield Booster (Navy Cap 150s)

Low Slots:
1x Damage Control II
3x True Sansha Heat Sink
1x Tracking Enhancer II

Rigs:
1x Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II
1x Medium Core Defense Operational Solidifier II
1x Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Ammo and Charges:
Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Imperial Navy Standard M
Navy Cap 150/200 (personal preference)

Drones:
3x Salvage Drone I (What I have currently)
or...
3x Warrior IIs (A little extra dps should you decide to go with Tech 2 Heat Sinks, explained later)

These are its stats with Lvl 5 skills:

567 dps/Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
378 dps/Imperial Navy Standard M

(Now... some of you will be asking/wondering/raging about why I used Tech II QUAD LIGHT BEAM LASERS!!! :O. Those are terrible, worthless, etc... right? You are correct, they.... were. CCP has recently changed the Beam Laser mechanics to where they now do more DPS than pulse, granted with significantly less tracking... except... the Quads. They are only .01% or so different than the Heavy Pulse Laser IIs and surprisingly do a bit more dps. They do have a shorter range though, but I don't mind because I enjoy the closer dogfighting feeling you get with such guns (Autocannons... ahem...). If you don't care for them, feel free to drop them for pulses. It's a sandbox game and all fits are viable. :) )

(Resists will be faction specific based on who your missions are against. This setup is for Sansha/Blood Raiders Lvl 4s)

EM - 86.3%, Thermic - 86.3%, Kinetic - 47.5%, Explosive - 56.2%

LASB w/ Navy Cap 150/200 reps 390hp a cycle.

EHP - 39,990 hp

Effective Tank - 917 dps

Top speed - 1405 m/s w/Afterburner

Cap - 10 minutes, 48 seconds w/Nos off and Multis in lasers
Cap - Stable 63% with Nos on

Total Cost of fit (Including cost of ship) - .......... 705 Million ISK.

This fit is easily tweakable as far as cost. Tech 2 Heat sinks cut the price by over 200 million ISK, but will require changing DCII to Meta 4 DC for CPU reasons and a reduction of 30 dps. Not a big issue, but something to be aware of.

Well, that's my fit, my first fit ever on Battleclinic. Please be cool in the comments/ratings. I am open to suggestions how to better my fit. GL and HF.

I don't understand why people insist on using sub-optimal hulls for Lvl 4s...

If you won't use a Marauder and want to move to shoot the NPCs, then use a Mach.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

If your goal is to maximize isk/hour then it doesn't make sense.

If your goal is to maximize fun/hour than it does. I find that battlecruisers are slow enough that I have no interest in spending a long time training to fly a battleship which I see as a slightly mobile platform with a bunch of guns involving little skill or challenge.

But I would like the challenge of flying L4 missions in the hulls that are enjoyable to use. I flew a few L4s with a fleet of frigates and destroyers only. Hardly the most efficient way to run an L4 but it was a lot of fun.

The only thing that I wouldn't dislike are the Quad Light Beam lasers. Mainly because the firing animation of 4 coherent parallel beams of colourful death is about the coolest thing in EVE.
Sadly enough they are still entirely outclassed by everything else still.

Oh yeah and the Phantasm isn't quite as ugly as the Nightmare.
Fly a Nightmare.

Or... you could use an Ishtar or a Gila with cheap T2 fit for more DPS and Tank.

There are many cruisers capable of running L4s. Have you actually run missions with this? Also, posting to say "hi" to SghnDubh. Tee hee.

Heather dear,

I did level 4's in my Harpy once when I injected small blaster specialisation which was a load of fun. It took a while but after five years to spitting missiles it was a refreshing thing to do something completly new to me.

Long before the HACs got changed I took a Deimos for a level 4 Gurista mission and tried that resist shift hardener out. I managed to get aggression from all ships and let the shift hardener shift to 60% kinetic, left my mwd on on stopped the ship.

It was a fun view to see your armor get pounded with 2hp damage notifications and turning the one rep on every five minutes or so Smile

I must also agree, running L4s in assault frigs can be a lot of fun. And much cheaper than the 700m phantasm mentioned here.

so you did it once, I also did something similar once and that was enough for me to suggest against anyone ever doing something likewise for "fun"
