Is there a "time to break tank" calculator or formula?

Is there a "time to break tank" calculator or formula? I searched for it and can't seem to find anything like what I thinking about.

To be specific I am looking for something that I can solve for x (time to break shield/armour tank) when receiving y (amount of incoming dps) and the reverse calculation when fed in the variables from EFT. Seems this would be invaluable when calculating whether active/passive tanking modules are better than buffer modules for a particular type of engagement.

in EveHQ plugin called EveHQ Fitter has this capability (Damage Analysis icon under implants list) . you need to make an attacking ship and defending ship and pilot with skills. It takes into account only turrets and missiles though

What you can do, is create a damage graph in EFT. Create the ship you are testing with, and put in a ship to reflect the sort of enemy you are expecting. adjust the speed and angle parameters, then multiply the dps on the graph by the number of ships dealing that sort of damage respectively. Subtract the dps tanked (shown on the fit) from THAT dps value, to get the value of dps you aren't tanking, then divide your ship's total EHP by that value, to get what you're looking for. Given that any calculator would require variables, this shouldn't be too difficult.

Come on, let's be realistic.

You want to create a tool that works with half-truths and none realistic assumptions. The best way to go about this is to CTRL+click1 (left mouse 1) and point/scram and or web and start shooting.

The outcome is not always the result you expect or desire and not many situations you can find yourself in have perfect conditions.

You can divide his approx. ehp by the difference of his remote/local tank and your dps. Use seconds. Else, tracking, velocity and range massively screw with that on a regular basis.

incomming dps - active tank = real effective dps. Time is Effective EHP/effective dps.

Simple basica math. OF course all that disregards subltle thigns like reload of guns and tank charges etc...
