Offline POS Removal

Hello fellow capsuleers,

i'm sure many of you guys would agree, that we need a game mechanic (other than pew pew Big smile), that takes care of all the offline Towers occupying moons in highsec.

And while there are certainly many suggestions, of how this could be achieved, i'd like to submit my idea, to see, what you guys think about it.

- Every Control Tower gets an attribute, which represents its orbital height or velocity (both would work).
- While the POS is online, the Tower gains height / velocity to a certain maximum.
- While the POS is offline, the Tower loses height / velocity to a certain minimum.
- Reaching the minimum level would cause the Tower to fall out of orbit and crash on the moon (disappear from space).
- In offline mode the Tower loses its height / velocity faster, than it gains in online mode.
(This is important, as it prevents people from fueling their Towers only for a short period of time every couple of days/weeks, just to save the Tower from crashing.)

On the technical side, i think this method would cause no real further load on the servers, because POS code checks for fuel every hour anyway. Just add the code to check for online/offline status and set height / velocity parameter accordingly.

if Tower online: velocity (change) = +x m/s (to certain maximum)
if Tower offline: velocity (change) = -3x m/s
if velocity is <= minimum then delete POS

So, what do you guys think?

And heavy drones. Together they make short work of offline POSes.

Tier 3 battleships (Rohk, Hyperion, ect) armed with unbonused a couple XL weapons and thin tank (Gets titan role bonus, turrets cannot shoot small targets). BAM! Got your PoS removal there, now you don't need to AFK with lasers as this is faster, the POS owner has to fight back (assuming its not an offline tower and an unsubbed), and you have a reason to train for something larger, bigger, faster killer than a cruiser or frigate. Still don't see why XL weapons haven't been put on smaller ship platforms as we already got several glass cannon ships, to counter POS or caps (lowsec now that they use gates, but most only basement dwellers fly cruiser and frig hulls...hoping their frig can hit a 2 meter thermal vent bigger than indigenous desert rodents while getting their butt kicked by said cap ships and whining to CCP to nerf cap ships) without completely killing other capitals but giving the pilots who don't want to drive capital ships more options to fight back (another option to a nerf, give more options).

tl;dr - give some smaller ships bigger guns, but with harsh restrictions. Cruisers with Capital torps (limited ammo bay) or battleships with short range guns only. Like a bomber without a cloak or flying the Yamato with a gun that is larger than a silly treaty limits back in the day Roll but you ignore it and reclassify you guns anyway (history moment if you know about the Yamato battleship)

There are times I offline my tower simply because I'm not using it immediately at that point, and won't need it for a day or three. If I go away for a week, I offline my tower. When I need it again, I online it. This saves a pretty good chunk of ISK in fuel.

If you want my tower, take it the old-fashioned way.

Only mechanic I would want to see about offline towers is the ability to scoop them. If your tower is out of fuel or offline and the shields are down and I can park a freighter beside it. Why cant i just scoop it and take it. Why is it suddenly a special snowflake that can only be destroyed?

I'd prefer a massive foam hammer that could bash them into the sun but this is actually quite elegant. All lored out and everything.
