:D you really are that dumb, aren't you? No, I cannot produce "proof", but let's hear it from these people themselves:

Honestly though, it never gets old, the interactions you get from killing a squishy miner who would otherwise ignore you and the rest of the players in game if you didn't step in are great.

I like to play my MMO's with other people, shooting red crosses or rocks in space gets old, much faster then kill those people that do it instead.

like hauling in a T1 industrial on auto. yeah afk for 10 minutes was soooo wrong - grow up.

Shooting pixels in a game is soooo wrong - grow up. If you don't like competitive games then maybe play something else?

Why don't you try shooting something that can actually shoot you back?

Nice pod. Why didn't you fly something that can shoot back? I mean how is that our fault if you let your gard down and fly an untanked Hulk without permit in New Order territory?

I have a fool proof way of not getting ganked, just go mine in low sec, they won't be expecting that.

I've been seeing this thread title in GD for some time and it got me thinking (it happens from time to time...).

Ganking miners must be like mining itself, except with one major difference... the asteroids don't explode!

Do you understand what an agreement troll is?

Let me explain something, for years now, gankers and 'belligerent undesirables' have been labelled as 'psychos' by carebears frothing at the mouth in rage just because we blew up a few pixels. The carebear, ironically, is doing so to elicit a reaction from the BU, and I say ironically because that's what BUs are so often accused of doing.

Well, while that may be true, there is actually a good reason for digging for an emotional reaction in-game - it puts people off their toes, gets them emotional and angry. Emotional and angry people react in a variety of ways, including trying to get revenge, which could result in more killmails.

Carebears, on the other hand, are seeking nothing more than the personal satisfaction of seeing people they don't like in 'tears'. So in order to deny you those tears, we just don't bother arguing. We 'agree' that we're psychos and in it for the lulz and tears, all for their own sake, because seeing you in pain is what gets me up in the morning.

Of course, it's not true, it's just all those quotes you posted are the same kind of reaction. They're 'agreement trolls', used for the purpose of denying you, and other carebears, an angry reaction from us and subsequently, personal satisfaction.

I, for one, am a proud psycho. #DealWithIt.

For my part, it is actually true, I am a (high functioning, granted) sociopath.

And I take enormous pride and satisfaction in being the well adjusted adult compared to the guy slinging insults over his lost space pixels.

the direct consequences what Ive seen so far of ganking miners (in highsec) is that new players, which are just started in the game. Mining is most of the time their first stop to accumulate their first ISK.

when they are then getting multiple times ganked, its for them the main reason to stop playing.

If "what I'm doing is getting me killed, maybe I should change my behavior" does not occur to them after the third gank or so, then their quitting is no big loss.

Good. if any ingame activity can stop an adult from playing a video game they like, they should not have been playing that game to begin with.

I've been STOMPED in the beginning in EVERY online game I've ever played starting with Mechwarrior 3 and 4 and Starsiege (i like mecha lol). Back then their wasn't all this namby-pamby "matchmaking" that modern games have to shield players from unpleasant experiences, and it's a damn good thing that EVE is old school in this regard. It's why EVE is one of the last real 'games' in existence, most others are just electronic ego stokers for weak minded people.

Happens, this game is not for everyone. Back when I was a clueless noob miner I did not 'get ganked multiple times' though. And that was back when you could insure your battlecruiser, gank and make a profit out of it with insurance alone at times...

Think if I ever start mining again, I might try dual boxing and gank other miners at the same time, or at least fly around in a destroyer and run them off, then I can have more rocks to myself.

If you don't want to get ganked fly this. Unless there is a whole fleet you can sit there and let them try.

I think the appeal of ganking is that they claim to be PVP but in reality they die every time and it never counts as a loss ?

Or have I got the wrong idea ?

Dying doesn't preclude you from winning a battle, especially when you are an immortal demi-god. In the noble spirit of the kamikaze warrior, we sacrifice our ships each and every time we engage in honourable battle with the miners of highsec (AKA other players). These losses are duly tracked on our killboards yet they still typically show 90%+ ISK efficiency.

If killboards are a measure of PvP prowess, then gankers definitely partake in PvP of the elite kind.

So does stealing from Jetcans count as PVP ?

Pretty much everything you do in this game counts as PvP. To people who sell ships, you not being killed equates to PvP against them.

The only way that ganking wouldn't count as PvP is if CCP finally takes my advice and formally disqualifies miners as being real players.
