Anti-UBoot warfare

Idea Create a game mechanic to search for cloaked ships like WWII submarine hunters.

Create a second flavour of T2 destroyers which are specialised for the task: Corvettes.
Fast, very agile, slow warp velocity, medium tank, little firepower. Fast lock-time, strong range bonus (balanced by damage penalty) to smart bombs. Can fit a new module: the echolon.

The echolon works like a sonar. It only provides directional information. Each cycle would update a mark on the Compass (released in phoebe) indicating the direction in which the cloaked ship has been located (maybe approximate distance indicated by time difference between cycle start and response). The cloaked ships have to be on grid. Range ~ 200km (skill dependend)
The corvette has to be piloted manually with only the compass readings as aid. Decloaking proceeds in the usual fashion.

Pilots in cloaked ships receive a warning that they are "pinged" (sound-design department go crazy ;) )

Optional: A second (T2?) version of the echolon could work for offgrid cloakies. These deep-space echolons would have a long cycle time (minutes) but yield a bookmark in space at a random position between 50 and 200km away from the cloaked ship. Range: ~5ly
The limited range would still allow for cloaky camping, but require a more careful selection of the safe spot (depending on system geometry)

UBoot hunters anyone?
