Good ship for level 3 missions?

Looking to return to carebearing combat after some time doing wormhole exploration, but I need a good ship for running level 3 missions (highest my standings will allow right now.)

I've got T2 ready shield and missile skills (used to use the Drake battlecruiser before they rebalanced it) but I can use T1 modules for all weapon types and I have all the T1 battleships unlocked.

Looking to do level 4 missions eventually and maybe put something together for wormhole PvE once I farm more ISK in missions. Any ship/fits that fit that description?

If you are going to do missions in high sec you might as well do the most profitable ones, so either Sisters of Eve or Thukker.

Thukker don't have so many agents so i would probably go SoE as you have alot more choice. Drake isn't what it use to be but it still does ok in level 3s unless you can use a Cerb or Ishtar or other favoured HAC or T3. There is a L3 agent for SoE in Simela (I think) and there are several l4 SoE agents now (a couple more got added recently).

After than, you could always go the normal Caldari route as you mentioned shield and missile skills, Raven and CNR, tho I personally like the Typhoon with T2 sentries, it's on a par or maybe even better than a CNR.

Checked my assets, turns out I do have a Cynabal but the tactical overview only shows a 16km falloff range for the autocannons. Is that good or bad as numbers go? I have a feeling I probably haven't trained the right skills for it.

Cynabal would work good, 425's should get you out to about 20k.

Hello,

For level 3 missions a Battlecruiser would be the best all around ship to use. As a Minmatar I used a Hurricane - Arty/Hvy Missile, passive shield tank/active resists.

Eve-Survival : Mission Reports provides very good intel for the Agents mission briefing, especially the player comments listed at the bottom of the mission report page. You should do fine, just fit specific tank for the mission and watch the triggers.

Good luck.

UghMach is good. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=345580

Edit: think cruiser speed and battleship firepower.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Legion or Tengu , They can melts anything in lvl 3.

Lady Areola Fappington:  Solo PVP isn't dead!  You just need to make sure you have your booster, remote rep, cyno, and emergency Falcon alts logged in and ready before you do any solo PVPing.

In battlecruisers the Prophecy can also handle IIIs and easier IVs well.

Though if you have T1 battleships trained then a sentry Dominix will get into most IVs and will clear them very quickly even with generic T1 drones.

I personally perfer Gun/Gun like (sentry drones) ships for lvl3s.

They have a lot of smaller ships and you don't want to ahve to count your volleys or wait for drones to fly around.

Well you can blitz level IIIs pretty well in a RHML Rattlesnake, your geckos are close to indestructible and the rapid heavies smack everything down in a hurry - but yeah you probably spend more on faction heavy missiles than you make isk-wise.

I've had a lot of success using an Ishtar ...

I use an Ishtar with the following fit:

Tech 2 Blasters with T2 or Faction ammo and a web for any ships that get close.

A couple of T2 Omnidirectional Tracking Links, T2 Cap Recharger and an MWD.

Low slots fitted with DC2, EANM2, T2 Armour Rep & 2x T2 Drone Damage Amplifiers.

This fit with a full flight of Garde II's I find that I can easily tank most missions stationary while my drones blast the crap out of everything and if in doubt, kite with the MWD.

Hope this helps!!

Orthrus with RLML is nice for shredding L3's. Or fit a BS like a SNI with RHML and painters and get the job just as quickly done. Also doing it with a BS you can have one omni tank without having to bother to refit for different missions.

Faction ammo for PvE? Thats a fine waste of ISK's.

personally, i'm a fan of the navy brutix. up to 700dps with medium rails is not too shabby and the align and warp speeds are well inside what i feel is appropriate for lvl3s.

I should buy an Ishtar.

it can be worth it when you use artillery or (tachyon) beam lasers. also, people run lvl3s for standings quite a lot, so ISK is not always the only factor.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I'm just a 4 million SP noob but I've been doing lvl 3 missions the past few days in a Navy Vexor with 5x Navy Ogres, 5x Navy Hammerheads and 5x Navy Hobgoblins. I switch the drones around depending on what I'm fighting, but it seems the ogres often handle the frigates pretty well (I did put two omnidirectional tracking links on it, one with a tracking script).

I seem to be doing fine, and the Ogres don't take too long to kill everything. I don't have a comparison though. But I love my Navy Vexor and my drones.

Might switch the navy drones out for regular ones, as they are kind of expensive to replace. (I've had to replace two or three Ogres so far).

If one's time is limited, the increased clear speed faction ammo can allow, may more than offset the increased cost of the faction ammo. Especially if the increased damage reduces the number of volleys meaningfully to kill a larger ship--say with regular artillery it takes 6 and faction only requires 5 due to less time for the target to rep. For example if one made 20 million isk in two hours running normal ammo, but it's possible that in the same time they could made 25 million isk with 1.5 million worth of faction ammo.

I used a Stabber Fleet Issue. Handles everything L3 and is fast.
