Best skills / ship to develop for a Gallente Fighter / Explorer Hybrid?

Hi I'm new to eve and been playing around with different careers in the tutorials and feel I would like to be a fighter but with an extra sideline to mix it up. Everyone seems to mine where as I think I'd like to scan and explore.

Couple of things really is it wise to be a hybrid or just focus on one area. Should I explore as a side line? Is it profitable , fun etc or would you do something else?

Also what ship and skills would you advise me to train and develop. I guess being Gallente hybrids and drones would be a good start? What skills/ships go with these and if I was to be a scanner what skills should I work on?

Sorry it's all over the place so much to think about :)

Thanks in advance

For high sec gallente exploration, you might look at an ishtar. For low sec, not sure which gallente hull would be best. (I personally use a weird pilgrim setup. What?

Wut?!

Gallente ships do work well for exploring, especially since you don't have to go get ammo much, you just use drones. For highsec, I've found that the Ishkur works quite well for most sites short of Vigils and 4/10s. The Ishtar is the next step up. It can solo sites all the way through many nullsec sites if flown and fit right.

T3s are also excellent ships for exploring everywhere too.

As to if it's profitable. Yes, definitely, but it takes dedication and hard work to do well at it. If you're willing to put the effort in to it, it can definitely pay off very well.

Thanks how much do these ships cost and do I need to train skills to fly them?
