i have bad standings with a faction and i was wondering how to get them up without lowering my standings with the opposite faction. i read about COSMOS missions and how the increase your standings with a faction rapidly, but do they work like regular missions where they decrease the standings with the opposite faction? ive seen posts and wiki pages but none of them answer this question, please help!

Cosmos missions work like storyline missions, completing them will incur both negative and positive standings towards all Factions.

The Epic Arcs are the only exception. Most of them will only incur a large positive Faction standing towards the specific Faction. However, some of the Epic Arcs will incur a small negative Faction standing for aggression and ship kill.

First train up the Diplomacy skill at least to level 4. After that you should have a better idea on how to proceed.
