Looked all over via google and cannot seem to figure out how to share info with other players in-game. Example - character skills. People that I want to fleet with ask me for my skills but I cannot figure out how to get a link to them?

Sorry for the stupid question.

Thanks

http://eveboard.com/

Just create and paste an API to show your skills and nothing more. Smile

Hi Victoriaveronica,

There is one key way to share your skills. It's by giving out your API key to people who you wish to show. This allows the other users to see what you allow them to see. You can view: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_API_Functions for more information on the API function.

You can get your API Key by going to https://support.eveonline.com and logging into the site with your username and password and generating a new API key. You will want to check off Character Sheet in order to allow those to see your skills.

Quote:
The Character Sheet API displays the full character sheet for the character ID provided. The character sheet contains basic character information such as the character's name, race, bloodline and gender, as well as information about their corporation and account balance.
Character attributes and skills that the character has learned are also included in the character sheet. Skills are listed as row in the XML output of the API.

With the API information they can enter it into third party programs or websites such as EVEMON or eveboard.com (unofficial site) and based on what you allowed them to see it will show them your character information there.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Smile

alternatively, you can just TELL them...

though, people looking for skills when you're trying to fleet with them is a new one... meh.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

The other potential option is by use of certificates, as you can set them public, so anyone can see them.

However, that's not very controllable, and the selection is a trifle limited.

There's also the safety risk -- certs are public to everyone, which means that someone can tailor their ship loadout to take advantage of your weak points.

I'd go with the API option, simply because when you generate a new API Key, any old ones that you gave out will become invalid.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

Alternatively, you can download EVEMON from the Battleclinic site, set it up, then run the program and Export-Character-txt file.

Copy/paste the text you want to share, then stick it on http://www.pastebin.com and share the pastebin link.
