Question about remaps for a new character

Hi
I just started playing a few days ago and I found out that you can remap your attributes.
I know all the basics of what the different stats does and that I get 1 remap pr. yeat etc. SInce I just started I got 2 remaps I am wondering if I should start using them.
What I want to do is to fly PvP with my friends, which means I am going to fly Frigates/Cruisers most since they play mainly fast ships.
It seems to my that I would benefit most from just leaving my attributes well spread since at the moment I train skills that takes all kinds of attributes (except charisma).
Do you think I would do better if I remapped for int/mem and get my fitting skills up first?
Or should I do Perception/willpower and get gunnery/missile skiller up first?

Or should I just keep my attribute points spread for some time and get multiple of the fast trained skills to level 3/4 first and then start using the remaps?

I am also fairly new to this game, but with prior MMO experience, and understanding (sorta) how vast this game really is; its probably best you save those remaps for when you are much more familiar with your character. Or the game in general.

First, get EveMon if you haven´t already.

Second, a lot probably depends on what you want to be, miner, trader, PvPer...

Now, as a beginner, it is probably wise not to remap for some time, since, as mentioned above, you might want to find out first what you want to do ingame and to get familiar with the skills in general.
Also, you probably will train a lot of different skills in the beginning so you wouldn´t really benefit from remapping for now (be sure to get Cybernetics up to at least level 3 sooner rather than later for some good implants). After a month or two, when you are ready to specialize, you will know for yourself how to remap (personally, I went for Charisma with my first remap to get that out of the way, then Drones and used the final, year-long one for Perception/Willpower).

Be aware that you might get the possibility of aquiriring a third remap for christmas or so (check that out elsewhere on the forums).

And last, it´s PinkamEna! Cool

Save them. If you are going combat, most of your skills(offensive, at least) will be Perception/Willpower (or vice versa). Defensive skills are Intel/Mem, mostly. Once you get the basics out of the way, the most 'efficient' way to train is to use evemon with 1+ years of skills lined up. Then do the PEr/Will for a while, then switch to Intel/Mem after those finish.

The remaps are important for your level 5 skills. Almost all of your early level 5 skills should be support: engineering, electronics, various ... upgrades, mechanics, ... Even if you want to go on the offensive, the only lvl 5 you need is your weapon skill. I'ld therefore suggest remapping tot int/mem.

Also note that some heavy trained per/will skills (cruiser, bs, hac, t3, recon, logi,...) require lvl5 support skills to unlock them and you probably won't be training those ships to lvl5 but you will need the support skills. Int/mem is also in this case a strong contender.

When you first enter EVE, you train a lot of skills that have:

* Intelligence as primary: Electronics, Engineering, Mechanic, Navigation, Science
* Perception as primary: Gunnery, Missile Launchers, Spaceship Command
* Memory as primary: Drones, Industry.

There are a few common approaches:

1. Plan with EVEmon, and use the attributes it calculates for you.

Only useful if you know what you want to train, and can commit to a plan.

2. Remap for max intelligence and memory. Later remap for max perception and willpower.

Not efficient if you need to pick-up a lot of very different skills quickly.

3. Stay with the default mapping (20i 20p 20m 20w 19c) until you know better what you want to do.

Works, but willpower and charisma are over emphasized.

4. Pick a general mapping until you know what you want to do.

For what it is worth, I'm at 55.8m SP and I still have a general mapping, because I can't stick to a plan (I follow a 90 day plan, but even that often changes).

I like the general mapping (details):

* 23 Intelligence
* 21 Perception
* 21 Memory
* 17 Willpower
* 17 Charisma

Note: one of the 2011 Christmas presents you can chose from the Account Management page is another remap.
