It is definitely enjoyable but i do feel a little bit of my sanity slip away after every near miss. That said last nights Retribution fight was far more exciting than taking on a 5-10 frigate gang or catching and terminating a bling legion in an Exequror.

Care to elaborate?

Mostly curious if you are able to get a 900 DPS tank how you will keep anything from warping away. If you can explain that, please explain how a 900 DPS tank will be sustainable long enough to kill anything with the 100 DPS a Nereus puts out.

Day 4: The Good the Bored and the Ugly

“A hauler against the world” I thought to myself as I began the fourth night of Nereus shenanigans. Chuckling at the sheer absurdity of it all, I undocked and ventured once more into the black.

Hitting my directional scan revealed a small frigate camp on the out gate I wished to use. I pulled out my new Eden A-Z to plot an alternative route, but I soon grew frustrated with its many pages flopping wildly. I elected simply to just plunge myself deep into the fray. I counted around 10 frigates that followed me through, but all chose wisely not to engage my intimidating hauler and I warped away unharmed.

Half an hour passed uneventfully until I found a lone Catalyst sitting on station, I went to investigate and docked. Undocking almost immediately I aligned to a customs office and called for warp. Hitting d-scan on route gave early warning of a second destroyer that sported an identical naming scheme to the Catalyst. Two destroyers vs one Industrial, they did not stand a chance.

The Catalyst exited warp on top of me and the Coercer landed at a more cautious 20km. I aligned out as normal to ensure they took the bait and my lock begun as the Catalysts first neutron volley ripped through my shields. My modules activated and as they did my sensors indicated a sphincter tightening somewhere nearby. “He’s afraid!” an excited call from one of the engineers confirmed his palpable fear across the vacuum of space. Efforts were made in vein by the Coercer to destroy my drones but that only delayed the inevitable demise of the Catalyst.

I aligned out victorious and the Coercer out of fear or respect pulled more range allowing me to warp to safety. It was as I sat in station a realisation struck me. Like the field mouse working tirelessly to survive the cold months. I too must savior every morsel given, allowing them to sustain me through the inevitable dark winter days to come.

High from victory I plotted a route through non faction warfare low sec. The journey was cut short however by a SCUM gate camp that I narrowly avoided. I headed back up to Dastryns to search for one more target before I succumbed to sleep.

Brain fogged from the last few hours of boredom I encountered and engaged a Daredevil. I knew he was being supported by a warfare linked T3 class strategic cruiser. My insane reasoning being that if he was blaster fit, I stood a chance at victory. Fate was not on my side as he sat at 20km poking me gently with rail guns until I died. Valiant efforts were made to slingshot him with the blistering 500m/s output by my overheated afterburner, but it was not to be.

Can I also point out that you're tanking in shield and it does not bait half as well as the hull tank? The whole point being they get giddy as they rip right through your shields and armour allowing the LONG lock time to complete before they even consider running.

Shield fit would be terribad as they notice the (dubious about the number) "900 dps tank" and the incoming lock at which point they smell something fishy pull range or just warp....Roll

Agreed. Shield tanking would not be nearly as successful at actually getting a target to take the bait.

Day 5: Early bird gets the Worm

Sorry for lack of updates but this one is a doozy.

The MK#4 had been commissioned and she was as exotic as she was alluring. Her predecessors had seen combat all around new Eden. But she was being put to work in neighboring wormholes to bait some mediocre engagements. A stabber was the first to fall for this new tactic. He took great interest in my HS wormhole loitering, and sealed his own fate by entering double web/scram range. My backup landed and dispatched him with ruthless efficiency as I hit 60% structure.

A Stealth Bomber was next to fall into my embrace utilising the same tactic. Decloaking 8km from me I laughed off his volleys as I started chewing him down. It would have been an easy solo kill however I am a generous god and I shared the meal.

https://zkillboard.com/kill/41680705/ - Nemesis

Forward scouts were soon reporting an open wormhole to Black Rise faction warfare. I was not a Nereus to refuse such a tantalising stomping ground, so I headed out alone.

I shortly found myself sitting at a customs office contemplating the Enyo and Worm on scan. It had not taken me long to work out that the Nereus has two natural predators. Namely MWD kiters and high dps targets whose weapon systems could not be neutralised. Enyos were high on my list of kill targets but I was understandably dubious about killing a Worm.

“Worm on short knob head” My chief engineer happily called the worms nearby presence, and I took a deep breath before the plunge.

He landed at 10km and I had visions of being kited to death. I burnt away hard and he followed in kind. By the time I had finished my lock he was in close proximity and with double web/scram and his AB neuted off, he had no chance of escape. That said neither did I… We were both in this now for the long haul (pun intended) win or lose.

I would like to take a moment at this point to express that when you are doing 90 dps everything looks like a buffer tank. His shields melted slowly and I patiently waited for the shield reps, they never came. His armour dissolved quicker than his shields admittedly, but still painfully slow. It was as he hit structure I called for an assessment of my own worthy vessel.

“She’s falling apart sir we have 20% structural integrity left”

My heart sank as I watched fires erupt around me and begin to burn my beautiful girl from the inside out. My diligent crew ran from fire to fire trying to ease her suffering. She shuddered as each new missile volley landed and tore bulkheads asunder, pain racked her hull, I could do little to save her.

I closed my eyes and placed a loving hand on the bulkheads that had served me so well.

“Good Girl, it will be over soon, I am proud of you”

Then the impacts stopped… I opened my eyes and the smoldering wreck of a Worm lay before me. She had won. Against all odds, she had won.

https://zkillboard.com/kill/41723783/ - Worm

I affectionately patted the bulkheads as I called the warp back to station.

“That’ll do Girl, That’ll Do.

Hoping to have another update soon but been pretty busy. Got another bait method in the works which should produce some fun kills.

Update on the K/D and Isk efficiency so far for anyone keeping score (only counting solo kills):

Kills: 3
148M

Losses: 3
39M
