IMO it's only use is for Incursion VG fleets and Jita suspect-bait-RR.

It's easily the best ship for high sec exploration.

And always let everyone know where you'll be and when so gankers can come "admire" your ship and fitting.

On topic: the Nestor is not currently very worthwhile, even in high sec. 1.2 Billion for a ship that falls just short in every possible way.

The ship should be made to be to exploration what the Orca is to mining and to work best in conjunction with the Astero and Stratios. It is frustratingly close to this. I'd like to see:

1. Drop laser and combat drone bonuses.
2. Bonus both remote hull and armor repairers.
3. Keep the Ship Maintenance Bay and Fitting Service.
4. Add a small (5000m3) Fleet Bay plus its current cargo bay.
5. Exploration-related warfare links.
6. Add either a CovOps Cloak or give it jump capabilities like a BLOPs.
7. If it gets jump capabilities, then give it a reduces speed and targeting penalty when using a cloak.
8. To bring it out in the open, give it salvager and salvage drone bonuses.
9. Possibly increase the SMB to hold 2 fitted Stratios. I see small gangs swapping between frigates and cruisers as the needs arise.

Designed like this, its role would be to jump its gang in, scan down a system, pass bookmarks to the gang, bonus them while they run sites then come in and run salvage and repair operations until they jump to the next system and repeat the process.

The Nestor has the potential to be a really cool ship, but right now it tries to be so many things at once (laser boat, drone boat, RR, exploration, ship refitting) that it can't really do any one of them well. Couple this lack of utility with the cost of the base hull, and it ends up not being very popular except for a few niche roles, or for use by folks who soon lose them.

For general hisec exploration, the Nestor is pretty subpar compared to the gila/ishtar for it having these slow drones. Unless your scanning skills blow or you like warping in slow motion, should really avoid the nestor, imo.

That's the joke. Nestor is terrible for highsec exploration, and too sluggish/not covert for exploration anywhere else.

All around, the ship is a poor choice:

Exploration: No covert cloak, far more sluggish than a t3, or cov ops, can't enter highsec combat plexs
RR: No capacitor usage bonus meaning RR is super cap hungry
Combat: no tracking or capacitor usage bonuses on Lasers
Tank: Only 6 lows (with a resist bonus), to fit in your tank, and dual weapon systems. So you either have to go shield and forego an important bonus, or go armor and skimp on the damage potential.

Only real good use for the ship is a mobile refitting platform. A 1.2 billion isk mobile refitting platform, for your gang.

The mass decrease seems to be pointing to a role as fleet support for C1 wormhole use and that might be viable if the price comes down. If Nestor was the same price as a Rattlesnake I think there would be a lot more interest. To excel in that role Nestor needs the ability to fit a warfare link - which would basically re-position it as a big battle cruiser rather than a small battleship.

It is slow a freighter will out race it,but is sorta agile it need cap as soon as you turn keys in on possition and it need it bad.

Used one briefly as alt dps needed to go shield and tachions for respectable dmg across the ranges and to avoid being locked in hard EM with scorch,but overall nothing that's worth billion + not even close.

In a nutshell - NO.

Practically anything you might want to do with it something else does better/cheaper. You can theory-craft a very specific situation to claim "see, Nestor does it better" but these situations practically never occur in the reality as far as I'm aware.
