Should I make a new account / character to play with my friends?

So I currently only have one character, my Gallente. My 3 friends all chose Caldari as their race. I didn't get THAT far into the game, e.x. I just got my first cruiser today and finished the first epic arc. I am partially new, so I don't know what you're able to do / not do, but if I am able to transfer most of my stuff and money, should I? I just don't want to feel left out haha and honestly the only thing I would be losing would by 1 million skill points. Should I make a new Caldari character or account? Is the racial thing really affect anything that all 4 of us wouldn't be able to do together?

If you don't understand my question / need any more info just ask Smile

The race of your character has very limited impact on your actual gameplay. I would recommend keeping your current character and joining up with your friends, there's nothing you won't be able to do together because of your character race.

Aside from some possible starting standings between factions there is nothing other than your cosmetic appearance affected by your characters faction.

Rather than starting again, as Derrick Miles says above. Simply change skills over to train Caldari ships if you want to be flying the same ship types. You could even join them doing activities for Caldari factions and use your Gallente ships regardless. Depending on the activities you all engage in there is some benefit to flying similar types of ship but it's nothing to worry about at only 1m skillpoints.

Many of the skills you train are of benefit to various types of ship so there is no benefit in throwing these away and starting afresh.

Feel free to ask more but essentially, the faction you pick doesn't matter at all.

My friend started a few months before me and he was caldari, when I started I only picked a caldari character because I liked the description the best. Very shortly after 2 more friends joined and one was Gallente the other was Amarr. The starting choices did nothing to change the way we played the game. and honestly these days it matters even less due to some changes with the NPE.

Also with 1m sp your character is still pretty much a blank canvas. I know I changed my mind a whole bunch when I was new.

race has never ment anything, when i started back in 04 you got some higher lvls on some of your starter skills and thats it. I started as a caldari cause i wanted to pve, found that borining, then i switched and i went gallente to mine, been flying them every since. So yea, race and occupation mean nothing.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

They've made the game so easy to make your character's race meaningless with tags and other faction grinding stuff for ISK (more ISK used, more PLEX sold, whee!), so don't bother making a new character.

Don't kid yourselves. Even the dirtiest pirates from the birth of EVE have been carebears. They use alts to bring them goods at cheap prices and safely, rather than live with consequences of their in game actions on their main, from concord to prices

As other have pointed out, nothing prevents you cross training caldari related skill on current character if you want to..

My main, has cross trained to fly every tech 1 ship form every race, except capitals.. Including all necessary weapon systems..

Like they said, faction is purely cosmetic, which is why all my characters are Minmatar (no consequences in skill sets). Unless you are into RP then you should be fine. Maybe snide jokes about being French or something, but that's it.

The main reasons people will create a new character are:
Terrible standings and/or reputation with other capsuleers
Training for a different play style
To get that "new character experience" again

Well, everyone says all the races are the same... which is true, theoretically...
But now guys, don't fool yourself with such thoughts... We all know the Amarr people are superior.

I'm gallente.

While achurans certainly have the best genes ...
... they're mostly cold blooded and lack the ability to use their looks to their advantage.

Or they know how ... which is worse.
