Trading probably has the lowest skill ceiling if you want a diversion that isn't going to occupy your skill queue for months on end.

Yep and if you are quick with numbers and have a little bit of transport ship skill you can get damn rich doing it. It can be rewarding also in that it is nice to buy such-and-such and turn around and make a profit selling it off some where else were the demand is higher. Consumables are a nice place to start, doesn't take much money to buy up a bunch of ammo and take it some where for missions runners to buy because many will pay more so they don't have to break their roll.

There are lots and lots of options in the "What next?" department. What best suits you will depend on your resources and what you enjoy doing.

Your resources will include the 'money' you have to buy stuff (isk earned ingame or via PLEX purchase) and, as others have noted, whether you're a solo character or the member of a group of alts. What you enjoy doing is probably more important, and may well be different today to what it will be tomorrow.

Your original posting refers to income so I assume that is a factor that you're considering in your plans. You also mention losing a couple of stealth bombers at gate camps - suggesting that it would be worthwhile getting some more exposure to that area of eve.

Some of the many possibilities, for your consideration:
- Go run missions in lowsec / nullsec. Not a huge income change. Mission running is much more 'interesting' with everyone else in the system also trying to kill you. Gives you more experience in surviving lowsec / nullsec. A variation on this would be to run the pirate epic arc mission series to get some more nullsec experience. Can be done with small batches of time.
- Go run some incursions. Decent income. Need to travel. An 'extension' of mission running with some new skills and the requirement for group efforts to profit well. Good skills (logi or high-end DPS) and equipment needed to reliably get decent fleet invites. Can get tedious after a while, but this is often countered by some of the 'characters' you meet in fleets. Can be done in small batches of time, although some level of commitment usually attractive to FCs.
- W-space. Good income. Not for everyone. Very different to empire life. Lots of new skills and experiences. You will die, it's just a matter of how often. Go it on your own (prolly not so easy for just one toon but fine for a small group of alts semi-solo ... up to C4 as your experience mounts) or join a w-space corp. Usually requires effort and dedication so may not suit someone with only small batches of time.
- Exploration in lowsec / nullsec. Can make for a decent, if unpredictable, income. Need specialised skills and equipment. Able to get more experience in lowsec / nullsec. Can be done in small batches of time ... just logoff where you are when done (ensuring any aggro timers have expired) and resume there next session.
- Join a nullsec PvP corp. This is what I did at a similar stage to you, so I am a bit biased here. Some new skillbook priorities, and lots of new experiences. Some aspects are boring and some are a helluva lot of fun. You should be able to get thru most any gate-camp in a stealth bomber, so there's obviously stuff there for you to learn. Usually requires a degree of commitment and may not suit someone with only small unreliable batches of time available ... but some nullsec groups are more layback than others. There are some Aussie PvP groups active in Curse, and most probably in other areas.
- Faction warfare. Some people enjoy it but it's not something I have ever done.
- Join a hisec PvP corp. RvB is a nice way to get some practical PvP experience without terribly expensive losses. Then there is also Eve University and Agony unleashed, both providing excellent ‘intro’ PvP facilities. Alternatively you have hisec wardec corps. I have often been tempted to try the latter for a while, to learn more about that area of eve, but haven't yet made the plunge. RvB can work with small batches of time but wardec corp may seek more commitment. You can also come-and-go as you wish with RvB.
- Do something completely different. Mining, research, manufacturing, PI, trading ... or something outside of game dynamics like somer, competitions, professional guide development etc. I’m not recommending these, but have done them all and found them useful to provide variety. Although PI still tops my list of the most tedious and boring thing to do in eve, I am very happy with what has recently happened to the price of wetware mainframes, and the several thousand units I hauled out of w-space and stored a few months ago.

There's a whole universe of options out there. Not all will be attractive to you, and some may be beyond your skillset ... but there's a lot to choose from. Good luck.

[LOL. I just noticed that I'm repeating myself here. Sorry bout the unintended spamming ... brainfart by the looks]

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.
