The only issue I agree with is that the green glow around active modules is barely visible, however this is not a problem with the nebula brightness, as it is barely visible on almost all backgrounds.

Please do keep in mind that your mileage may vary greatly on this issue; displays will differ in quality, brightness, and chroma from player to player, compounded by the fact that color acuity (the ability of the eye to distinguish between colors) also varies between players, and a small but significant portion of the population has genetically degraded color acuity (colorblindness).

CCP: Thank you for taking a look at the readability of interface elements in bright environments.

Yep, that is why I posted.

I'm not looking forward to an uglier UI just because some people have crappy displays with contrast turned to 11.

Why is this coming up over and over again? We just had a mineral change in Crius doing this:

100 units of Prime Arkonor now yield 7596 Tritanium, 1406 Mexallon, 253 Megacyte, 127 Zydrine
100 units of Crimson Arkonor now yield 7251 Tritanium, 1342 Mexallon, 242 Megacyte, 121 Zydrine
100 units of Arkonor now yield 6905 Tritanium, 1278 Mexallon, 230 Megacyte, 115 Zydrine

Mine more or build less - no reason for yet another change to ore and minerals

P.S. Awsome CCP - splitting the scanner windows into movable single ones is the second best part of the upcoming patch. Thank you!!!

Hey Folks,

As you are all well aware, change is coming to Εve this November and December. CCP has announced their latest release, Phoebe, and there are many ways in which space ownership will be affected. I strongly suggest reading the patch notes here: http://community.eveonline.com/news/...-november-4th/

Brothers of Tangra started nearly two years ago with the express goal of providing the best service to our customers, and we are quite proud of what we have accomplished so far. The changes in the upcoming release have forced us to make some tough decisions on how to continue on providing top quality service. The conclusion that we reached is that for B0T and its customers to prosper in Phoebe, a few infrastructure-related changes would have to be made. To dissuade any would-be harassers, a more active force will have to be present to protect the area and its inhabitants. While the idea of a Brothers of Tangra led militia is appealing, we do not think it is enough to combat the most organized combatants. To that end we have enlisted the help of our friends in Legion of xXDeathXx to protect the space and those calling it their home.

There will be a slight, though completely unavoidable, hiccup in services depending on where you currently live. The regions of Kalevala, Оuter Passage‚ and Cоbаlt Edgе will need to be transferred to Legion of xXDeathXx sovereigntу ѕo that everything is settled for the November 4th release. The level of service you experience will not be affected‚ and neither the renter’s agreement nоr the rаtе. This is merelу a way to ѕafeguard against future changes with a more hands-on captain manning the tiller. Renters in Malpais and Spire will remain under Brothers of Tangra‚ thоught still protected, аs will any systеms in the aforementioned regions where sovereigntу upgradeѕ cannot be interrupted (I.e. beacon systems‚ jammers systems, and capital building systems).

During this periоd, which will be very grаdual ovеr the coming weeks, уou can feel free to contact the ѕame Brothers of Tangra contacts that you have now‚ оr the Legion of xXDeаthXx contacts listеd below – both are on the same page.

Thank уou for your underѕtanding in this matter. We are excited to enter this next phase with you. Again if you have any questions‚ dо not hesitаtе to ask.

While you are making the last major changes to industry (re: invention and reverse engineering), how about increasing the number of offices at NPC stations, and/or increasing the number of NPC stations with research facilities? And consider revisiting the office pricing mechanism.

Much of the BP ME/TE research moved to NPC stations, after Crius, resulting in a lack of offices at those specific research-capable NPC stations. The escalating office pricing mechanism does eventually force some corps out, but the price drops too slowly to allow smaller, and poorer, corps to afford an office at these stations, even when one becomes available.

The exact same research can still be done at the NPC station, via personal hangers; the lack of corporate hanger divisions just makes organizing and sharing of BPOs and BPCs between corp members (very) inconvenient.

So, this current siituation does not add to the game in any positive fashion - it is neither immersive nor more realistic; it is only annoying.

The only thing that worries me a tiny bit is the brighter nebulae... I trust the art team, but they didn't seem to need to be brightened did they?

I have the same concern. I can barely see my modules against some of the bright nebula now. If they get any brighter I may as well just stab my eyes out. Are you guys going to do something about making the modules easier to see against the new blindingly bright nebulae?

How about a separate option to disable the nebulas entirely? Or does that exist?

Adding my signature to "The nebula are too bright!"

Or perhaps it's "The text it too light!"

Really I think there should be bright and dark areas of space. I think it spices things up and adds some variety to the game. What others are saying is spot on though.

Anything with white text/lines/status symbols should have like a black glow/outline to it to you can read it no matter what is in the background.

https://i.imgur.com/Z6NP8zV.png

That, I think, would solve the problem of not being able to read things. Granted some people may still hate the brightness, but that's a personal preference vs a bug/problem with the game.

Also, I don't know if the gas clouds are counted as part of the nebula (I don't think they are being discussed here) but OH MY F-@!# GOD you want to talk about bright? THOSE are the things that need to be toned down.

This man speaks truth. A shadow behind the UI elements and text would solve most of these insanely bright nebulae issues without having to give us the option to turn down the brightness ourselves that we have been begging for since 2003. Not sure why you guys are so dead set against letting us tone down the overpowering nebulae brightness ourselves though. It's kind of a no-brainer for anyone (INCLUDING the QA team and devs) that have ever played the game.

The images in that post were more than enough to illustrate the problem.

Those images and the associated comments are in the hands of the user experience team, and they're looking into how to address the issues raised.

Thanks. I just hope it's not the same old "Ok we looked at your pictures... now go away." thing we're so used to for stuff like this. Some actual follow through would be really nice.

No, the reaction was more along the lines of "these pictures are great, they illustrate problems we've already been working on solving!"

That said, I don't believe that this issue is being treated as something that requires an emergency fix (which would take time away from other planned development), so it may be a while before there's a resolution.

I see this as a big issue that will only get worse after the next release. It needs a time line for when it might be fixed.

I would suggest a stand alone dev thread to see what the full player base thinks about pushing it up the issue list.

No emergency fix is expected. I've been here since 2003 though and can tell you from first hand experience that if any kind of fix ever comes of it at all I'll be very surprised. This isn't meant as harsh as it sounds. It's just experience talking. I've seen these antics countless times over the years. I dare you guys to surprise me. Big smile

Oh and the guy above recommending that the UI devs play a few level 4 Blockade missions against Sanshas is spot on. Give that mission a look and use it as an example of how not to design a mission. The clouds in it are absolutely dreadful and peg my GTX 760 at 100% utilization with 40 FPS if I'm lucky. Just awful.

Please make sure that whoever looks into it test it with tactical overlay active, it gets much worse with
the overlay active.
