Will it also play the audio?

For me, graphics performance itself is not the issue, but whenever Aura says "Warp drive active", the graphics jump noticeably, even though the FPS only drops from 60 down to 30-40 or so (which should still be fast enough to play smoothly).

It does get smoother after a while, but audio drivers do occasionally affect graphics engine performance.

This signature intentionally left blank for you to fill in at your leisure.

We'll have audio in there eventually - first iteration will not, I'm afraid. Once we get the first version out there, audio is next on the list.

I absolutely wish to be part of this. I must agree with post #62 . With out sound your testing is incomplete , my game play is smoother using my wireless usb headset than speakers on one machine but no change on another. I would be nice to know whats happening , I'll choose my upgrades accordingly.

Great idea guys, using the players themselves to run solid tests and get real data; removing the guess work and variables. You guys are showing a lot of progress with keeping close to the community and staying agile behind the scenes. Keep adapting and use the community as much as you can.

Wine = Wine Is Not an Emulator

"... No processor code execution emulation occurs when running a Windows application under Wine. In Wine, the Windows application's compiled x86 code runs at full native speed on the computer's x86 processor, just as it does when running under Windows."

Definitely a symantic nitpick, but you've got a valid point.

I shed tears for the CCP guys that have to work with the various Windows and Mac sound servers. We appreciate all their hard and painful work.

Just wanted to say this is an awesome idea. Crowd sourcing your debugging and performance reporting.

Kinda reminds me of SETI@home.

Longer term, the plan is to have a way of having EVE Probe guide graphics settings for the EVE client so you can run EVE Probe and have settings selected automatically based on those results.

I hope so, because right now. EVE doesn't recognize my Nvidia GTX 770. It affects my Memory and FPS dramatically.

If the plan is to make use of this to determine ingame settings then I have some ideas for that.

- When testing also give the option to try and emulate several clients at the same time, for obvious reasons

- use the launcher to store several sfx/gfx setting presets and then be able to link them to an account. That way you can load your main account with good GFX and sound enabled and load your alts with minimal GFX and disabled sound, all straight from the launcher without extra effort. And be able to decide to log in for "solo pve" or "massive fleet" using configurable presets making life so much easier.

Any more news on this, can we download it yet?

A recovering btter vet,  with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...

Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

Indeed you can - we've set up a forum channel specific to EVE Probe:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=6404

We sort of silently slipped it out to be sure our infrastructure for getting back results was solid before making any splash announcements so don't feel bad for not noticing.

We'll put out new releases frequently, if irregularly and it's my hope it will become our standard way of introducing new graphics features and optimizations in the future.
