Which scanning ship for everyday probing down the chains?

I use any ship I happen to be in when I need to probe, the skills and ship bonuses are irrelevant since the scanning changes.

Cov Ops are obviously fastest because they align fast, warp super-fast and can be fitted with a lot of scan modules. But of course they are useless for catching ratters, so anyone who wants not just the route to Jita but also catch people has to use a T3.

...or possibly a Stratios, but its worse scanning bonus makes quite a difference, also not much tank.

By myself, no back up - Helios

Looking for "content" heavy tackle cloakie proteus (or insert your T3 race of choice)

I have never been caught on a hole camp in a helios but I have lost a scanny tengu to a hole camp and it suxxored.

Not if you like using combat probes.

Also, another option is to have a dictor or other tackle follow your prober around the chain. I prefer to scan in a helios and I don't consider them to be very good tackle, so I have separate hulls for specific roles. Plus, I enjoy punting so that's fun for me.

Yeah, well, it's just like my opinion, man.

Helios is terrible tackler but it can tackle something long enough to get hard tackle on it without jumping in other cloakies that could potentially spook your target.

I used to use a scanning Anathema because of the comfortable (to me) mix of mids and lows, though I'd most likely take the time to finish Caldari Frig V for the Buzzard for the new scanning modules.

If I am feeling cheap I use a duel rep astero, decent for scanning and can work pretty well as tackle if something shows up.

Yes definitely ignore those. No way a bunch of ships are coming in that way.

I am an Astero fan myself since it is damn tough to catch, and provides great tackle when needed...

Yes, if you have to ask yourself the question, just assume we are watching you...

Scangu
Faction probe launcher, scram, long and mwd.
Aligns almost as fast as cov ops + ... tank.

Snag it, tag it, hold it (might get a tardscalation) and bag it.
