Linux Noob here, so please be gentle
I'm running
Linuxmint-17-cinnamon-64bit-v2
wine-1.7.27
in VirtualBox 4.3 r955599
On Win 7 Pro SP 1 (64 bit)

When I get to the "Choose Install Location" screen the "Install" button is greyed out.
I can pick Default Location, or Custom Location
The directory I'm using (C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE) exists as
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/CCP/EVE

I've got winetricks installed, I've followed a couple of tutorials, and I'm at a dead end.

Thoughts?
Next steps?

Hmmm. Indeed.
I've never used the installer myself though.

Did you try the offline installer? Maybe it can help. Or maybe not.

If you have an existing installation your best bet would be to just copy it over and use it. I've been dragging around the existing installation between different computers and systems for all my eve life.

This is the issue, you need quite a lot of space to install eve since it untars itself.

If you have the space in another partition, you can use a symlink to link to the 'offline files' from this site.

I'm confused. If I understand ths correctly, you are running Win 7 on Virtualbox, then launching EvE with Wine?

Are you running EvE with Wine, or Virtualbox?

I'll run with the theory that you have enough disk space, and just mention that occasionally, the launcher takes an inordinate amount of time to enable the play button. I removed the virus that is M$ Winblows off my last computer last night. Took so long for EvE to say it was ready to play I was deep into Destiny.

Just unzip the zip files that the offline installer would download manually into the same directory and you are ready to run it via eve.exe or bin/eve
