Ok, so eve is full of a rather unique group of people.
I think that it would be a great way to share random factual knowledge for the community to help spread said smarts. I will start out with something that I have known for a while, but still always amuses me saying. Other people contribute.

Today I learned: Liquid tungsten freezes in lava.

I went to the Lego store at Rockefeller Center here recently... they were building what I could only assume to be the Halloween exhibit. Was breathtaking.

TIL that Lego has an Imperial Star Destroyer and a plethora of other Star Wars stuff available; way too cool for kids.

TIL: There were more than one species of homo sapiens on the Earth at once. For example, the 1 meter tall "hobbit" homo sapiens found in Flores Island, Indonesia. (But if homo sapiens is a distinct species, how could it have several species? Don't know, read it in The Economist, maybe the non-paleontologist journalist got his biology terminologies mixed up).

The point is, modern humans didn't develop as a direct line back to a primate ancestor. There were branches of diverse humans co-existing at once, and from those came modern us. Which raises the question: were gnomes, brownies, elves, and giants real? If you're a 1.8 meter human seeing a 1 meter human in the woods, he looks like a Gnome. If you're the 1 meter high one spotting the 1.8 meter one, he looks like a Giant....

*Related: Neanderthal art found in a cave in Spain(?) maybe, somewhere in S. Europe I think. It's deep gouges in a rock wall that look like a tic-tac-toe/noughts and crosses board. Neanderthals had some urge to express something graphically, same as cro-magnons.

I'm pretty sure I read that they were most likely descendants of homo erectus, based off of the shape of skull apparently. If I find the article where I read it again I'll edit it into this post. Not to nitpick or anything, this kind of stuff interests me a lot as well.

TIL that my mother's first words when I was born where: "Li falta alguna cosa?" (Is there something missing?) Shocked

I was born right after the talidomide scandal and my mother had been taking a totally unrelated medication for a chronical disease, and her doctor asked her to stop taking the medication if she planned to get pregnant. Albeit she didn't took her pills, she was very concerned that something had been left in her system and it could affect me... but I was born whole and she was very relieved. Lol
