Last night while running 3 clients I started getting short freezes, from 10 to 100 seconds long. Re-starting the computer resolved the issue.

Closed down everything again today before my play sessions, to the point where TOP was struggling to find things to tell me were on (kidding)....

Launched both eve online clients, got signed in. Played for 7-8 hours without one single freeze, despite re-opening umpteen-billion (official East-Texan measurement) applications afterwards. This included remote desktop connections, streaming music, SSH sessions, chat programs.... even running virtual servers inside the same mac, and not once did it even hiccup. I have never gone more than 2 hours without a lockup, so this is a major improvement. I can live with even just 1 freeze per 8 hours, having none was outstanding.

No clue what the difference is on the back end of things, but i will be running more tests as I can think of them :-). Maybe I will keep certain apps up and record CPU/RAM usage before and after eve launch, see if I can find anything (systems admin by trade)

OS X 10.9.5, w/ EVE client fully patched up as of today

Yet continue to get strangely random crashes ... sometime I play for hours, sometime lock up after only a few minutes. It seems if I keep EVE in foreground its a little less prone to crashing. Sometimes crash is so bad, entire computer freezes, WTF!

Are there some graphic or other settings to stabilize?

[ okay I scoured the forums sounds like ... ]

- EVE OS X may have a memory leak
frequent restarts of app may help (goodbye chat history/fleet membership)
possibly may help to reboot computer prior to playing.
Also, avoid EVE voice enable when practical.

Just got back to the game tonight
Downloaded client,installed on Yosemite
launch...crash less than 2 mins in game

Actually it is not a crash it is a complete freeze.

Not motivating me to stay

The client isn't yet supported on Yosemite.

Mine works fine, but clearly YMMV on an as-yet-unsupported platform.

Exception raised
unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000024 at address 0x7001c524

Mind you I downloaded the game TWICE and installed it twice on a SSD with 16 gigs or ram

I doubt this has anything to do with Yosemite...

Still...can t play for more than 20 seconds

As strange as it may be today I played for the first time on OS X 10.10 on an official client and I did not freeze. Not once! Shocked The gameplay is a bit lagy but nothing major to complain about. I hope this is not a one-time thing, but Phoebe will show for real. As of now I'll keep playing on official launcher, jus to see if there are any problems (and I hope not).

Also turning off torrents and safari might help too.

UPDATE 2014 10 26

After playing for a week I did not have any dreaded freezes. EVE looks stable from my side, though WINE version runs much more smoothly.

Mac client still messed up.

And see, I am having the exact reverse. Everything was great (as long as I closed down every application running, and I mean EVERYTHING) first... launched eve, and then got my other stuff started.

After the update to 10.10, I can't play more than 20 - 30 seconds without a lockup.

I really wish the devs would post what they are working on in this regard... some clarity would go a long way in helping us not only troubleshoot with them, but also in making us feel like our problem matters to them instead of what we get now, which is the occasional GM head nod every month or so.

Eve client 2.1.826897 is constantly freezing on Yosemite, only reboot helps. It is commonly happens when I loot something or opening a cargo on open space.

I'm getting random freezes on startup, black screen and nothing but beachball until I force powerdown by holding down the power button - nothing works, not even force-quit menu. Some days it works fine for hours, other days it won't even start.

SInce last Patch (Tuesday ?) intermittent freezing of 'main' client
If I multibox .. within 10 minutes Ill get stuttering on both clients .. and then a fail of the cloned client needing forcequit to close.

Mac Mini Server Late 2012, Fusion Drive + 16 Gb of RAM
sometimes only 2nd client freezes after several hours
sometimes even first one freezes even while docked and working with character sheet
I even start to think about just running EVE in Parallels. FPS will be much worse but it won't freeze
reboot doesn't appear to help
only things that appears to matter are:
- CPU load, > (approx) 70% cpu load = freezes
- num of people in local (Kisogo cause near instant freezes but backward system in Stain almost never cause client freeze)

Since updating to Yosemite, I can pretty consistently generate a full white screen crash when docking at a station. No problems out in the meteor belts mining, but as soon as I dock and it should be loading up the captain's quarters, total freeze of the application.

Damn, when I read all the problems, I can be happy that my client only freezes from time to time. I have freezes sometimes after some hours, somteimes I get none.

It happens when I am multiboxing, but also with only one client running. It happens inside of a Station and outside. No typical reasons can be found.

I will now test the hint with the ingame voice chat.

But: The thing with apps that uses i-net connection is just stupid. I am playing eve with a lot of friends, and I need Team Speak, I need Mumble, and I need Safari, also Jabber and other stuff. Eve would be unplayable for me, if I would have to turn all this apps of.

It is such a shame, that CCP can't do anything against the problems, they don't even react anymore. When I imagin, how much money I put into that game... What?

came back to the game yesterday, about 5 minutes away from asking for a refund. Experiencing this random freezing Mac OSX 10.9.5 2014 Macbook Air. Game is pretty much unplayable as it just happens without provoking.. in fact it happened just sitting in station last night while I was in bed.

have disabled EVE Voice to see if that helps at all but i doubt it. I haven't used eve voice once.

Since launch of Phoebe the game crashes constantly at random stages: login, undock, warp, or just idle at station. I can't even use a second client. When I launch a second client, one client freeze (audio keeps running in background) and the other client crashes with long error code. The crash damages the game app, a re-install needed.

Also with the launch of Phoebe the Apple developer verification seems be missing out. Gatekeeper tries hard to deny Eve to be opened (rejects ctrl-open etc etc). [Print screen available.]

Sent CCP the print screens of crash log and python terminal log with a ticket.

Since Phoebe, I've experienced a tonne of lock ups and session changes taking 5 minutes +. It's happen mainly when docking or moving systems.

I was running OS X Yosemite (10.10) and had a virus checker (Avast) running in the background.

Turns out the virus checker was causing the issue and since removing it, Eve works fine. There's probably a way to set Avast to ignore eve but I couldn't figure that one out.

Hope it might help someone.

Step 2: Hit escape and go to the CHAT tab
Step 3: Under VOICE SETTINGS uncheck EVE VOICE ENABLED
Step 4: $$$$$
Step 5: Play eve with no crashes

This is what worked for me. I was having hard client crashes every 20 min almost to where the game was unplayable.
Did steps 1-5 and havnt crashed once in over a week. Good luck to all.

This is really valuable, thanks very much!

just thought i'd add: been having the crashes for over a year on my macbook retina and doing this along with turning off all audio SEEMS to have fixed it (as i knock on wood). but so far so good and ive been alt tabbing and doing all the things that usually lead to crashes.

will let you know if this fails, but could be a problem with eve voice or audio drivers etc.

Haven't played in a year. resubbed today and can't play.

Client crashes and freezes the computer all together requiring a complete restart. Crashes 5 to 20 min in to the game, be it just chatting or warping.
