This

there is nothing more fun then watching your faction fit Loki get into 25% armor when your shield tanked and manage to get away due to almost burning out your MWD. I love pvp in my T3's

I find myself with no direction or clear goals in EVE. I have been playing EVE for about 2 years. I did exploration for a few months and that was ok. I ran missions. (boring) Joined a low sec corp. (ok too but still kind of boring) Moved out to Null for a month. (Null sec sucked pretty bad imho) My sub will run out in ~25 days and even though i have several billion ISK i can't think of a good reason to log in and buy a plex.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get some fun out of the game? Perhaps i am just burnt out and should try something else. And to all the can i have your stuff people no you may not. I will just let it sit and rot and hope that at some point there is something fun in the game i want to try again later.

I find the most important factor in EVE is the people you're flying with, no matter what you're doing it's boring with the wrong group of people. Mission running, exploration, pvp, mining, etc... they're all fun when you're on vent with a bunch of crazy people, but not so good alone.

Bolded/underlined all you need to know mate. Decide which aspects of the game interest you the most and then put some effort into locating a corp that suits what it is you'd like to keep doing. Get to know your corpies well, dont be another number and get involved.

After a long break myself and recently returning I found myself in the same situation. I'm still looking for the right corp but I know once i've found what I'm looking for I'll be home for good.

It is only a matter of time before you have done pretty much every aspect of EVE and stuck with the ones you found the most fun or the ones you most wanted to do and then in the end after years of doing those you try to look for something new and there isnt really much to do..

The need for new content is pretty serious at the moment.. Especially now when it looks like its not being focused on

Im one of those people who is sort of looking forward to the walking in stations, mini games and seeing other players walking around.. But that is taking forever and i expect after that they may or may not focus on flying in space content but if they do it will take a long time to implement new content.. Especially cause im sure there will be alot of bugs and glitches to sort once incarna fully comes out..

Seems its going to be a long time before new content is added sadly What?

Maybe now is the best time for a break..

I find that when I start losing interest in any game, it's because I no longer have a goal that interests me. In single player games, the goal is obvious: Get to the end of the game, accomplish your character's goals, perform X incredibly difficult feat of skill, and so on. If those things cease to become meaningful or are no longer interesting, then I don't finish them.

Pretty much the same thing in EVE, only the goals in EVE are a lot more abstract, difficult to conceptualize, or just plain not interesting. "Become super rich" doesn't mean a lot, really. What keeps me playing EVE specifically is having a cause. The important thing is remembering that having a goal and having a cause are two different things. Causes are something worth being passionate about, whereas goals are just stepping stones to a future that you envision for yourself. So get mad at slavery; join a roleplaying corp dedicated to abolishing it and have run ruining some slaver's day. Or just take up arms for truth and justice, build yourself a kingdom to rule fairly as a safe haven for like-minded people. If unsavory things are more your cup of tea, that works too - your cause can be malevolent, if that's what is interesting.

The best part of having a cause is that CCP can't nerf it; as long as it means something to you, and as long as you're doing something to further it, you will have fun and feel like you're accomplishing something. It's pretty much the only way to "win" the sandbox.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who posted a suggestion. After further consideration i think it is time to walk away from EVE at least for a few months. I will just read the forums from work until i see something that makes me want to come back. Fly Safe or if you can't do that have fun getting blown up.

And for the people who want stuff i should send you 1 ISK each a year for the next few billion years. But that would take effort.

I've been through that phase several times (in one right now), I'm completely underwhelmed by EVE atm and CCP will have to do a damn good job to turn that around. Take a break; perhaps a month, perhaps 3 or longer. Or maybe you'll decide that you won't come back at all.

Use your isk to buy plex and keep training but not actually play the game for a bit, because if you decide that you don't want to come back to EVE then all you lost is some isk, which you won't care about. And if you DO come back you'll have trained in the mean time and you can make that isk back.

Excuses are the refuge of the weak.

Fair enough, and if/when you inevitably come back - come up with a goal and go meet cool people. Then eve will be lots of fun.

After that, there was no reason to play EVE anymore anyway....

Yes, it has been going on for a long time and by others as well.

That just makes playing this game all the more stupid and pointless....

The game is what it is and once you get to where you are at now it is the moment where geeks will be geeks and all others leave.

I have noticed lately that the game is consistently short some 10,-15,000 players so don't think you are alone in your feelings.

Nobody can help you with this one.
The following statements are not equal:

You don't know what to do on EVE, nonetheless, you enjoy being logged in at EVE

You don't know what to do on EVE, you have tried several in-game activities, but you don't find them to be fun anymore

Even if someone advises you an activity, with such a mood you won't get too far, but rather make your employment history look worse.

My advise, stop wanting EVE online to be fun, but rather focus in something else, EVE is there for you, always, you don't even stop training if you are not online.

I'm a solo player by nature, and it sounds like you might be one at heart, too, since the low sec corp you joined didn't excite you (although, it might just be the corp).

What I enjoy doing when I'm playing EVE is I do a lot of exploration. I really enjoy randomly traveling around, finding sites, and blasting the crap out whatever I find there. Surprisingly, the gameplay varies in exploration a lot more than one would think.

I'm considering doing Incursions, but there hasn't been one close enough to me recently that I'd want to fly out to. The addition of other players really makes things interesting (I did Incursions before we officially released that expansion).

I've also been doing some market dabbling; that really is a game in and of itself.

Off the top of my head there are a couple of things you could try such as:

COSMOS Missions - These give you really nice standings to individual corporations and factions. the missions are also quite unique and different from normal missions

Live Events: Sansha live events happen all over Empire space and you can get more information on how to get involved from this thread.

Red vs. Blue: many players like to chill out and spend some time doing pew pew in either Red Republic or Blue Federation.

You can also look at some of the shadier areas of EVE and spend some time becoming a spy or infiltrating a corporation or alliance. This, of course, takes time but is certainly an interesting occupation in EVE Smile

best bet is to let the sub run out, set a long skill for the 25 days you have left. then give it another go after the winter expansion, if they have actually added something to do with spaceships it might be worth staying. if it dosnt float you boat at that point, just uninstall and mark ccp mails as spam and then enjoy your freedom.

OMG when can i get a pic here

And how many of them are currently broken because certain agents malfunctioning?
^ Just a question Navigator, but last time I tried the Ammar cosmos or Gallente Cosmos I had to break them off because of the above. :s

You could also try organising a giant conga line of BS's outside Jita 4-4.

It would be really impressive if you could get them to dance while they conga.

BS goes left, BS goes right, BS goes left, BS goes right, now twirl and loop the loop. weeeeeeeee IT'S CONGA TIME!!!!!!!

I think you may be correct about the solo thing. I was in a highsec corp for 6 months or so and did have a good time. But in most games i have more fun if i don't have to wait on someone else to play the game. I would have to say of everything i have done in EVE i have enjoyed Exploration the most. I have ran The Amarr and Caldari Epic arcs. and done some Cosmos stuff too. I also did a bit of incursions sites. The ISK is good but they get repetive very fast. Perhaps if that Deepspace Exploration is ever added to the game it will draw me back. You never can tell about these things.
