Thanks. That clears that up.

Still, odd choice for a forum software if you ask me. You'd think a company like CCP could dish out the cash to buy a license for one of the better and more feature rich softwares out there.

They won't use anything that isn't .NET so no.

These are the two most useful forum features in years.

Lots of truth there, been waiting for these two fixes since the new forums hit the forums.

There is one issue with signatures that does not seem addressed.

The 120 character limit right now applies to the URL placed within URL tags. For instance, if I use a URL that is 40 characters long, but the link itself displays as "Changes to HACs", this will count as 40 characters, not 15.
I could be wrong on this; it might be the tags themselves that count as the extra characters. Either way, that example does count as more than 15 characters.

Please do adjust this so the displayed amount of characters are limited to 120 or whichever limit you decide is correct.

Thanks!

Now, if only you gave us an option to disable those annoying external link warnings...

Will the new forums fix the bug where random people have random standings assigned to them here? Sometimes posters that I like have negative standings, even though I've never added them in game. And then sometimes posters that annoy me are set to blue! Evil

Greetings guys and gals!

Now I've gone over all the replies in this thread, and compiled a list of feature requests & issues that have been brought up; that will be presented to the rest of the team. Please understand that we may not be able to abide by every request for various reasons, however there have been some that have sparked our interest and have already received some discussion internally.

That having been said, I would like to address a few of the questions that were not directly feature requests or issues.

Megarom wrote:
This is because the link-tag points to the thread in general and not to the right post. The correct link is there in the content, but the reader I'm using doesn't even show the content so my only option is to click something that takes me to the wrong place.

I agree, the RSS feed should provide links in the same way as the forum view. I.e. when reading the search RSS the main link should be to the relevant post, not the original of the topic.

Moraguth wrote:
One question about that though, is there one button that takes you to the next "important" post, or is there a link for each type of "important person"? I'd much rather have 1 button that works for all of them at the same time (so i don't miss a CSM post in between GM posts for example).

The badge links will at this time only bring you to the next post by a person with an identical badge in the thread. Links to the first of each badge may however be found at the top of any topic. See:

While the fixed width won't disappear in phase one, it is something we want to get rid of. And we intend on making that happen in phase 2.

In strict terms, none of the above. Although what we've been working with thus far relates in some ways to Bootstrap, it may be subject to change.

Not sure if appropriate, but since the thread gets monitored... the old forums break external links because http://oldforums.eveonline.com/externalLink.aspx is now a 404. Makes it rather difficult to browse old content.

Example thread with link
Example link: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/externalLink.aspx?l=http%3A%2F%2Fdl%2Eeve%2Dfiles%2Ecom%2Fmedia%2Fcorp%2Fmorium%2Fcallforsupport%5Fh264%2Emkv

Also, apparently the link above ^ can't fit in a url BBCode tag, I get a "There was an issue with parsing this post's BBCode" error.

First the GM/ISD/etc links and the login fix and now this. Right now I'm happy as can be, thank you for these fixes. Big smile

These are really great changes!

I have a few suggestions for Phase 2/2:

 1. Ability to upload images as attachments to posts.
 2. Option to display attached images in-line inside the post.
 3. Upload an image file to be displayed in your forum signature.
 4. Colored text.
 5. Ability for CCP Developers to force certain forum users to write everything in pink.
 6. Different font sizes.
 7. Ability to add domains to your personal whitelist of external links that are opened without the interstitial warning.
 8. Ability to post XML,HTML ( to be clear, essentially replace < and > with < and > ) (This also fixes other issues where people want to use < and > )
 9. [pre] BBCode for preformatted text.
 10. [code] BBCode for syntax-highlighted, pre-formatted text.
 11. Ability to include LaTeX formulas.
 12. Ability to include small tables with sortable columns.
 13. Ability to add fittings to your post (paste in plain text fitting format and display a small version of the ingame fitting window in-line).
 14. Add a karma system that also allows downvotes.
 15. When the forum decides not to accept your text input for some reason, don't delete everything you wrote and display an error message, allow the user to fix their input instead without having to use the back button.
 16. Add a light-colored theme.
 17. There is an issue where the forum just randomly loses all your input when you hit "post".
 18. Use a different rate-limiting algorithm for forum posts, i run into that limit quite regularly.

Thanks for all the excellent feedback!

We've opened external access to phase one on https://forums.testeveonline.com for testing. Feel free to try it out!

If everything goes as planned, then we'll deploy phase one early next week.

Here's list of new changes that were not included in the dev blog:

 • Top bar is now sticky
 • Quick search is back on the page, no longer in a drop-down menu
 • Back to top arrow is shown on all pages and we've also added "Back to top" link to the sticky top bar
 • Time on posts shows how much time has passed since it was posted (2 min ago, one hour ago, 2 days ago, etc) and hovering the mouse over the text will show the timestamp
 • Notifications always take you to the relevant post

It seems that at some point the test server did not render your portrait correctly, this issue is however bound only to the test server as it hosts its own images.

TQ uses:

Sisi uses:
https://image.testeveonline.com/Character/1138016498_128.jpg

Therefore this issue should not occur once we deploy the new forums here.

Pro tip!

Anyone having access with likes, editing your signature, or possibly other bits in the forum interactivity: please try to disable adblock for the Eve forums. It might be blocking some stuff it shouldn't be.

will this continue to be an issue after launch or just a current bug/issue?

It's not an "issue", really. Certain Adblock filters are "too eager" in what they block, and they appear to have issues with certain bits of Javascript making, for example, the Like button work. See CCP Sledgehammer talk about one of these problems.

The problem is not with the forums; it is with the overzealous filters causing the blocking. There are a few ways to fix the "overzealous filtering" problem:

 1. Pester the authors of the Adblock filters at fault to fix up their filters to not cause so much trouble.
 2. Locally edit the filters you have so they don't catch stuff (e.g. CCP Sledgehammer's post).
 3. Disable Adblock for the Eve forums. There aren't ads here anyway.

It was #3 that I recommended in my previous post. I hope this clears some stuff up.
