I go to sites and I see giant asteroids that miners can mine. Right next to these asteroids are huge wreckages that salvagers can not salvage. Lets face it, why are salvagers so poor when miners make so much isk? I could point a miner at a rock, or... I could point a salvager at a wreckage of composite materials and metals that at some point a crappy miner already processed. Why can't I target these wrecks with my salvager and harvest armor plates and burnt conduits? In theory it should be easier for a salvager to recycle than a miner to mine. Lets take a real world example. It takes hundreds of people, heavy equipment and dangerous chemicals to mine gold. Yet there is a guy in every strip mall in the country buying jewelry for a 20% profit.

There should be salvaging sites!~
Derelict sites
Forgotten battlefields
drone warrens
crash sites

These sites should be available to salvagers just as asteroid belts are available to miners.

There is so much the dev's could do with this idea. Imagine a derelict station with a set number of resources that can be salvaged. Throw in a small chance of uncovering chance encounter like a hidden data cash, buried relic, or inactive drone swarm.

++ show your support for the poorest class of eve players, the humble beggars and poppers of the salvage market.

I agree in theory about the need to address salvaging as a whole. Don't know what the full solution is, but as a start, I would like to see:

- all things being salvagable. i find it hard to believe that all the structures i have to blow up during missions don't at least give me a veritable but-load of metal scraps. Ideally I would like to see better salvage, but that would be a start.

- all owned salvage expires after a set time period. I.e. i'm ratting in belt and others BS rats are still there 20 hours later. yes, i can technically salvage anything but: 1) I cannot tractor it and 2) salvaging whats not mine (or open) will flag me to someone else (which is technically a moot point in ns anyway but I digress)

additionally i would like to see missions have better salvage rates. salvaging is time consuming, and the only way to make it worth the effort is to make it more lucrative. not asking for the faucet to spring a gusher here, just a little twist of the tap.

I do believe the solution to cater all of us here is a very simple one for CCP to implement: Wrecks can be tagged already now by the owner as checked. If CCP would extend that mechanism to include 'checked and free for all' you would get what you ask for.

I personally would immediately support that kind of change as i feel bad when leaving my wrecks during a mining session just to expire and not being lootable by younger players around me.

Same would go for wrecks in many combat sites i believe - it would make it a lot easier to involve a 'partner system' between high level mission runners and low level 'clean up' salvagers.

Presuming they wouldn't alter material requirements when making such wide-ranging changes. This seems unlikely.

The idea of everything salvageable makes as much sense as everything destructible, if slightly less exciting +1

If you think that's unlikely you should look up what t2 salvage materials used to cost before Odyssey flooded the market with them.
