Exactly.
Too many capsuleers narrow their minds on income instead of challenges and experiences,
completely missing the point, as it is outside their scope.

Although it's very profitable it's not really about the isk, I'm rich as fck, but the idea of being an actual pirate. I'll offer a ransom that's reasonable for both parties, if they're not interested I'll scoop their loot and add it to the loot pile. Last time I actually sold something from that pile was about 2 years ago. I sometimes look at the pile with glee; a sea of CN, pith and gist stuff sprinkled with the odd terrible officer mods (mostly dumb **** like RCU). I'm a hoarder of fancy stuff, tears, joyful memories and hate mail. The isk is just a bonus.

Isn't there a proper sub-forum for shilling your blog?

Code can't get away with it in here. Why can the OP?

Ahhh, the ole Ninja Salvage / Mission Invasion trick of trying to incite PvP action in high sec without involving Concord.

Yeah, good luck with keeping that little Frigate intact after jumping into a level 4 mission pocket that has Neut's, Web's and Scrams active from NPC's that quickly switch target lock onto other ships landing on grid.

By the way, most 'Carebears' won't engage a 'suspect' with their bling fit Battleship. They'd just warp out letting the 'Suspect' get full room aggro and come back in their PvP fit ship to 'Game On' with whatever is left of the 'Suspect'.

Won't be getting much Faction / Deadspace loot but hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

I came across Feyd's blog about 2 months into playing EVE and have a great laugh playing about in peoples missions pockets, It pretty much kept me interested in EVE until I had more sp and moved onto other things, it wasn't about the ISK and I never even shot at any of the mission runners.

But some the reactions you get when you shoot their mtu's, salvage & loot their wrecks \ mission item, is priceless, I've had 3 different guys in battleships shoot at me, and proceed to get their BS blapped by concord because I wasn't flashy yellow, one of the random guys I was repping in my osprey, I have no idea what he thought I was doing Shocked

From over 100 missions pockets I've jumped in, I've been scrammed once by npc, and the bear shot it before it got me Smile and yeah, alot of bears will leave the mission, but they generally come back 20 mins later once they think your busy with something else

Either way, point was, for a new player, it doesn't really have to be about the ISK, but more about having a bit of a laugh, also, the salvage and mission loot still pays better than lvl 1 and 2 security missions

We have a symbiotic relationship, it feeds on my negative emotions and I don't try and kill it.

I did mean I want to see his hoard of loot though. I'm talking old school dragons here.

Mission baiting and all that is legit gameplay and can be good fun, but i would never encourage new players to stay in high sec like the op is doing because they would miss the best part of this game.

That advice deserves the scrublord award of the week.

Jaded and Grumpy?

Just because I mentioned some of the issues pertaining to this thread topic outlined in the Blog doesn't mean I'm a bitter vet.

If you're gonna post advice for new players in this sub-forum then you need to post all the info pertaining to that subject, both positive and negative instead of just focusing on the positive side and over sensationalizing it.

And yes, everyone else who posted disapproval of what I stated and praised the Blog with replies saying how good it works also bypassed the issues I listed, thus intentionally misleading new players into thinking this is a win/win situation.

I agree. Just on the first page of this sub-forum alone I see 5 different threads started by the OP all linking to his Blog. I haven't really checked the other threads like I did with this one. I can only hope the OP has included all info pertaining to those thread topics, regardless if it's Pro or Con.

In my opinion referencing the Blog in answer to a new players question is fine but making a new thread topic here just to promote the Blog goes against the description for 'Eve New Citizens Q&A' :
Quote:

New to Eve? Use this forum to ask, or answer, questions about the game.

I highly doubt CCP would want or allow everyone with a Blog to start creating threads here in order to promote their own opinions which ultimately influence the viewpoints of new players.

I'd say that's definitely something to seriously consider.

You mean like the newbie corps promote all styles of play right?

I agree on paper, but in practice newbies only seem to get the positive advice on the forums (not everyone reads them) or from the occasional vet making an alt or passing through a newbie system. Hell I only met ONE person in the newbie corp who was supportive of me and the newbies I convinced (tricked? duped?) to join me for low sec shenanigans. They need all the positive advice surrounding these kinds of non carebearing activities they can get.

Feyd, your writing is unimaginative and your blog is terrible. Stop desperately trying to increase your own relevancy with your rampant stealth advertisement threads. Have some shame.

New players should be taught to embrace all aspects of the game and find their own niche. I respect mission baiters and gankers as much as anyone, but your sperging promotes a toxic and judgmental mindset towards a large proportion of players and their play styles. This makes you the last person who should be offering advice to new players in a sandbox game. You are in fact anti-sandbox, but you're likely too deluded to ever see that.

One might say you are the Bill O'Reily of the high-sec piracy community. P

Hey guys.

Some say losec, null or wormholes are the only zip codes where you can be a pirate, or experiment with pvp.

I respectfully disagree, and wish to ensure new players are at least aware of other options, which while giving us personally many hours of unrestrained pleasure, is a viable PSA.

We report, you decide,

Actually, now that I actually read it there's a lot of stuff missing in that blog and/or just silly. There's far more details and granularity, even for starting Asshats, to understand and make use of. On top of all that; telling people to use ships that do kin/therm damage when the majority of missions runners tanks exactly that is, at best, questionable.

Damage type selectable weapons, preferably ones that don't use cap so you can start using a neut (although not much at frigate level), is preferred.
