Things to do tomorrow.

See if corp name "And Then Kestrels" is taken. if not, forn new corp. Just want the OP to know why I am coming after him. (Corp ticket ATTK? WIN!)

Pay locator agent to find the OP.

Head to OP's system. He shouldn't be hard to find if he only works one belt.

Suicide gank him to lower my obscene Sec status.

????

PROFIT!

This guy gives decent non-whining carebears a bad name. He must be silenced.

Seems fair, right?

Yeah, like letting their developers give out T2 BPO's to their corps.

Makes me wonder if a dev isn't a corp member of the clowns.

Yep, and the game mechanics would allow you to do just that. You could literally make it so I couldn't even really play the game anymore if you wanted to.

Super game design huh? :)

No. Because then you would have been in a warp tunnel the second you saw him and he wouldn't have been shot.

Yes you can. You can roughly double its EHP without much effort.

Yes he will. Warping onto grid and actually exiting warp takes a little while

What would be fair is make it so you get 5-10 ganks free, and after that you gotta do a couple hours work on your security status for the next gank.

You could of course....upgrade from a retriever perhaps. Move once in a while. get friends. do something else for a while until they move on. buy ice. but since you assume your only option is to whine, well.....AND THEN KESTRELS.

Tippia, don't call me a liar. As soon as I got to the belt I hit "align to" with the station targeted and didn't move again. I was aligned. Aligned is not warping.

Please, share your retriever tank build with me.

Do you even play this game? Exiting warp takes awhile? He was in a frigate.

What is wrong with space that disallows repeated ganking? As long as the potential profits are low, I don't see the problem. Even with the inflated prices its not like I would be getting rich mining ice.

Again, I don't mind an occasional ganking. What is happening here is just a mockery though.

OR they could make it so you had to work on your security status for an hour before you could gank someone again after the 5th time?

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Wanna gank people? Sure, but you gotta pay the price!

Is Tippia actually a goon alt, or why is she licking their backsides always?

Well just because they got similar view of what this game is. And they feel entitled to enlighten others that their view of this game is the correct one.

I dont care either way. I am quite happy as it is. Things happens, i dont have any influence over those.

gankers do pay the price. lose of sec status, loss of the ship (no more insurance for Concorded ships). But they gain your tears. Stop enabling them.

it is hardly a free ride.

Why not, when what you say is quite obviously untrue? You were not aligned. The reason you weren't aligned was because you didn't move. Unless you're moving (at ≥75% speed), you're not aligned. “Passive aligning” is a myth.

If you are aligned, then you warp instantly when you click “Warp to…”.

I already did. Others have also provided theirs.

Makes no difference. There is a delay between arriving on grid and exiting warp and being able to lock someone.

It breaks the game. The way the economy and industry and combat is wired together, everything player-owned and player-made needs to be destroyable at any time.

Something doesn't sound right here. So incase this isn't a troll (dunno, doesn't seem like it)... I've read most of this thread (skipped a couple pages) and I'm wondering if there's some missing information. It takes a very long time to raise sec status. So long that a lot of people just give up (i.e. - me) and end up at -10. You're only really an outlaw at -5.0, which is when you turn red. The other security status to system rating works like this:

Players with -2.0 or worse will be attacked in 1.0 systems
Players with -2.5 or worse will be attacked in 0.9 systems
Players with -3.0 or worse will be attacked in 0.8 systems
Players with -3.5 or worse will be attacked in 0.7 systems
Players with -4.0 or worse will be attacked in 0.6 systems
Players with -4.5 or worse will be attacked in 0.5 systems

(via - http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Security_Status)

The lower the security rating in the system, the slower the naval response time, giving prepared outlaws an option to skirt some systems to get to other lowsec pockets, or as the case has become, time enough to jump a ship in through a gate, warp, shoot, die, etc. If he's coming out of a station, then he either already knows exactly where you are already with a cloaked alt or bookmark (bookmark means you're sitting in exactly the same spot - that's not a good idea), or his sec status isn't low enough to be shot at in a 0.5 system. Even in point 5 systems the best you can really get away with jumping through a gate is at best a fast istabbed cruiser. Undocking from a station generally takes longer to warp off. Are you sure he's suicide ganking and not doing something else?

My advice:
- Think it through
- Find another ice belt
- Lay a trap (best way imo. catch him enough and he'll consider you a harder target)
- Tank your boat (pay attention to what damage type he does)
- leave your combat drones out and when comes in, target him. you'll get his km when he gets Concorded
- Watch for his alt (Local channel)
- Align out like someone suggested. An aligned ship is almost impossible to grab.
- Higher mercs to deal with him

If this has happened 5 different times in the same belt, then you're doing something wrong. Not saying you're dumb, just maybe something you missed or aren't experienced with.

Hmmm. Do 'roids follow you within mining lazor range when you are aligned at 75% to somewhere?

Or more accurately, there are two types: not aligned (not moving) and aligned (moving). The way the physics engine in EVE works, if you're not moving, you have no direction, and getting into warp takes exactly the same amount of time no matter which direction you want to go.

Soft aligns do not exist.

No, but you're moving at (at most) 75m/s in a Retriever, so with 10km range, you have just over 4 minutes of flying before getting out of range.

Align to a celestial/station one direction. When you're nearly out of range align the opposite direction. Use something to reduce your max speed, like Trimarks, and alt with webs, whatever. Or set your speed to 50% or whatever. I don't mine so I'm not up on all the techniques. At least I tried instead of posting useless sarcasm.

i've never been 100% convinced of this, but I've never actually tested it. If you know of anyone that has, let me know.
