Give Titans a real logistical role

Overall I really like the idea's CCP has put forward for Phoebe with the jump ranges and fatigue etc.

One of the problems it does throw up though is the some region to region jumps are huge and allow null space to be easily defended as you only need to install a defence force in a couple of choke regions and it can be almost impossible to break through the camp in to the region.

What I propose is this.

Allow titans to jump to the range they currently can (with jump fatigue et all factored in maybe at a smaller level a little like JF's have)
Nerf the Titan bridge to the 5LY already proposed.
Increase the ship maintenance array to be equal to amount of clones installed x average assembled battleship size (obviously the numbers would have to be crunched on this).

What this gives you is a way to move forces behind enemy lines for surprise insertion of forces behind enemy lines (if you like), but leaves the titan(s) vulnerable with only a sub cap fleet as support for them.

Force projection would still be a thing but apex force projection of carriers/dreads/supers would still be very limited.
There are a lot of vulnerable points during insertion that can be exploited by defensive forces.


I think this would bring the titan back to what CCP's original idea's for the ship were.

I might agree with it if there were far less Titans in the game.

Black Ops will be able to fill the described role to some extent although not to the level you described.

No and a horrible idea. The reason is it kinda defeats the whole jump fatigue. Basically you would install clones to titan. Jump titan and jump clone to the titan. Grab your ship and move along. So what just happened is you found a work around to the jump fatigue . The only person hit with fatigue was the titan pilot.

For that reason -1

Well in actual fact it replaces the jump fatigue timer for the people clone jumping with a clone jump timer.

Right, but you just got a free jump basically in exchange for a different kind of timer. Which will allow PL and other large groups to extend their reach and power project further. The reason is it we could always just bridge the fleet and additional 5LY. CCP does not need to introduce a new mechanic / "balance a ship" that counter acts what is proposed in Phoebe.

I thought the whole idea of this forum was to propose idea's the figures I quote with regards to jump ranges or anything else are by no means set in stone but are AN IDEA.

Everything in eve is exploitable in someway or another but don't just look at my ticker and immediately dismiss something. The titan has had these capabilities basically from inception but they have never really been utilised because there has simply been no reason to what with Jump Portals, Carriers, etc.

My idea is to actually give the titan some kind of role which adds another dimension to null sec/low sec warfare in future.

You are definitely right and I will not attempt to adjust your opinions. How you perceive the game is your own. However I disagree with what was suggested and provided my reasons.
