With the exception of Uedama this week the vast majority of high sec gankers who actually dock are likely to be alts specifically for that purpose their ships are cheap as are their clones, so they don't care at all if you kill them. Suicide ganking of expensive ships flown by silly people is some of the best ISK/hour available in game, which is part of why people do it.

I rarely suicide gank because I consider it unsporting, not that I don't consider the targets valid but fishing by dropping a line into a barrel of starving fish wouldn't be much fun for me either. On the rare occasions that this character enters high sec I wouldn't dream of docking. My clone and implants are often not cheap and a high sec undock is one of the most dangerous places I can ever be. Particularly if I'm in a ship, killing me with the faction police shooting me should be simple task if all you do is point my ship. After a suicide gank it's straight back to the safety of low sec for me, there's no sense in taking the risk of undocking on a high sec station.

As for buying fittings and ships...well what do you think we have multiple character slots for and why do I tend to live in low sec entry systems and near market hubs? It's so that an alt can buy and haul my stuff for me. This character only ever carries enough cash for the odd module, drugs, drones, repair bills and ammo/repair paste/cap charges purchased from low sec stations.

Incidentally Uedama has been an embarrassment this week from the perspective of freighter pilots. If you don't know what's going on there then I suspect the rock you've been living under is due for a move. Realistically though how hard is it to look up Uedama in your map and go "right-click, avoid Uedama"? Now I'm sure CODE. and co. have done their homework enough to pick a system that will take some time to go around but I bet it's possible. Get ganked in Uedama after the freighter ganking has been going for days and I don't see how you can even blame CODE. and co. for your loss.

Those of you trying to white knight the event; try using logi instead of trying to get on the kill mails. Most of these pilots are very low SP and are fully disposable so even smartbombing pods is hardly a deterrent. Think of it like a fleet fight. CONCORD is providing your fleet with more than enough firepower and e-war, what you lack is logi ships. You don't have to tank the gank fleet you only need to survive long enough to let CONCORD kill them all. 1% structure is sufficient to succeed in your task. It is however a horrible way to get on a ton of killmails quickly and easily which I suspect is a big draw for many "white knights" similar to how us "evil" folk like to camp low sec gates to farm kills (myself excluded again).

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.

If you'd gone with the idea of blocking station access, forcing criminal types to operate out of POSes and mobile Orcas, establish the group logistics, potentially get wardecced and evicted, etc, etc. you'd have got a lot more love.

Demanding someone to train an Orca alt or effectively be banned from highsec is frankly stupid.

Travelling at the speed of love.

To match this, there should be larger penalties for ganking, partially based on value ganked. Larger sec status hits.

How about (as an extre algorithm) the higher the security status of the victim the higher the security penalty will be for the ganker(s). If you gank a player in high sec with a low sec standing the ganker will lose less standing then if he would gank a player with a +5 standing?
