I like this event.

Well, viewing things from the lore side, it is obvious that the empires still have something up their sleeves when it comes to sophisticated technology and it is true that they keep it from us capsuleers. But what we can benefit from this will probably be some new faction modules or even ships and the more we support our favorite faction the better their stuff will come out. After that we can use it at our discretion. So even the smallest contribution will matter.

I am using the opportunity to warn you: if the Sleeper code has gone crazy then we should all be prepared. What stops the Sleepers from jumping through the woormholes to K-Space? I mean - most of the wormholes lead to Anoikis right?

So better do the smart thing and prepare some ships with high omni tank. Blink

Would be proper hilarious (though afaik have no basis in lore) to have sleepers invade large swathes of new eden for a few days including highsec - having people warp their CNRs to a L4 and find 6 sleepless guardians spawned :D

So you want us to play along, yet you won't give us any info on what we're doing.

If you want to have your roleplaying events to pretend there is a backstory fine, but if your making changes, or introducing new tech to EVE, please make a non-roleplaying dev-blog for those of us that give 0 pucks about the storyline.

Example:
New Sleeper tech coming out. Donate these things to this guy to get your name on it and be first to get one. (insert name/type of mod, and a brief overview of it)

See how easy that is?

T3 Battleships, yay…! OK, probably not. But it's still wishful thinking...

Nah, the lore based scavenger hunt will probably be the only mention of this before it's implemented. I wouldn't expect them to release a dev-blog outlining the full details sometime between the end of the event and the launch of the next patchspansion.

Lol to this. CCP seems to have suddenly realised how much their changes to WH's suck and instead of fixing them after seeing the damage to activity in WH space (like we have been saying so for the past month or so), they try to do this event instead in order to try and increase activity again, rather than fixing the god awful changes that caused the problem in the first place.

Just revert the changes and all will be well again!

The only thing I don't like about wormhole space right now is the new nebulae. Such dark and depressive colors, pale, driving away any visitors. I know that there has been a lot of work involved in creating the new ones and I apreciate that, but I think it was not needed. The old ones were so beautiful. Believe it or not, that was one of the main reasons that brought me there. I want them back. But this is probably for another topic (that I will soon create).

So when you are saying “faction” are you talking about “Faction Warfare”, “Faction Navy” or your race?

If this is related to Factional Warfare it will benefit a few that seldom use wormholes.

If you are talking about a Faction Navy should you donations be based on where you have rep or the one related to your starting race?

Will this tech have a race requirement and if so would I want to donate to the Navy of my race or to the Navy I have the highest rep with?

As there is nothing gated by your starting race right now many have higher rep with other faction’s navy. Where will my donations do be the greatest service?

Clearly I’m confused, can someone help me here?

1. this has nothing to do with faction warfare.
2. this is a ccp event
3. the rewards for this event are currently listed as only going to the highest donator to their particular faction -
devblog wrote:
The commissions will be given to the character that donates the highest value of Neural Network Analyzers and Sleeper Data Libraries (combined and weighted) to each faction over the course of the event.

This statement from the dev blog implies that there will be Four prizes total, one to each highest donator to each faction (one for amarr, one for gallente etc.) it also seems possible for one character to be the highest donator to each of the four factions.
4. It does not seem restricted by starting race.
5. the ldev blog also implies that the total donations to each empire will determine the order in which the new sleeper inspired items will be released for each race. Ie, if Amarr is the overall winner of donations, the ammarrian X module/subsystem/ship item will be released before the second place winner Caldari X module/subsystem/ship item and so on.
6, in theory your (smallish) donations will not matter a huge amount. as all four races will get something eventually, its only the intended race to the top for "most donations" that matter.

7. If you do not have a billion or so isk to throw at this, its probably not worth it for you. I may be wrong in this but i would guess that each of the factions will have one or more donations of a billion isk each.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

So the timeline is as folows

1. CCP implement changes on Sisi making the WH crowd have a fit

2. CCP goes out with a blog explaining the changes... WH crowd still has a fit and tries to dissuade CCP from going through with the changes because they are not the droids they are looking for.

3. CCP turns the changes loose on production server. Large numbers of wormhole dwellers, especially the people in the lower classes start thinking about moving out.

4. Low end WH dwellers start moving out en masse.

5. CCP brainstorms... how do we get people back into WHs? Especially the lower ends which now are pretty much nothing but PI growing grounds?

6. Someone comes up with a brilliant idea. Lets give people a hint of something cool coming Soon (Tm) and in order to get it they need to collect as many sleeper yada yada yada as possible and turn them in... This will make people venture into wormholes, creating pew opportunities for recreational WH divers and then everything will be good again.

7. WH dwellers that moved out and does not want to live in nullsece BS politics cancel their accounts.

8. So lower end wormholes is depopulating. Server population is decreasing as canceled subs run out...

To me this feels more like a kneejerk, a last ditch desperate attempt at getting people back into wormholes before they end up completely empty.

1. Constant drops from CCP about player constructed gates.

2. Major nut kick nerf to jump distance.

3. Sudden interest by empires in sleeper tech that points to lore involving the sleeper/talocan jump gates.

Think the answer on what is coming is very clear.

Then again, lower class wormhole space is actually full of action and you're just spouting complete bullshit.

Hyperion w-space changes were simply purely positive to non-capital w-space.

Amarrians can contain their enthusiasm with much ability - it only appears to outsides that Amarrians are constantly grumpy whereas infact we are almost giggling inside with glee, all from the position of the eyebrows.

Is it player-constructed gates? Here's hoping for a tally update...
