Ever-probing Capsuleers!

You can find a link to a new version of EVE Probe below:

http://files.eveprobe.ccpgames.com/eveprobe-0.83.3079.0.msi

Release Notes:
- Fixed an issue that caused frame-stuttering in first two scenes.
- Fixed a freeze on low-end machines.
- Improved start-up time on first run.

Known issue:
- Doesn't start up on Windows XP.

We are anxious to see the results of the frame-stuttering fix. If the results are as expected, we would like to get that fix into the EVE Client as soon as possible.

Overall performance seems quite better, except the zoom out from fleet 2 frig to titan scene, which just becomes high frequency stuttering and not smooth at all after zooming out past the 1st provi.

I did not notice very much frame stuttering with this version (compared to the first release) Seemed smooth overall.
nVidia GTX 660

Festival launcher scene - at the end when scene is zooming out to full, I see three "smoke trails" of different colors and a white snowball effect on the right just fine, but don't see firework explosion FX at the end of the trails for left and center.

No difference from the first release. I wondered if it was because the size of the effect was too small relative to the camera distance from the objects... in which case maybe I shouldn't be seeing a white snowball effect on the right.

The "firing rate" seems much higher than TQ, but maybe you're not using all of that "code stuff" for a particle effect test ;)

We're focusing purely on the engine performance - we're not using the real values for firing rate.

It also works quite nice as part of a burn-in test ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

I happen to run a sizable PC test lab and I guess I could put this through it just for fun (of seeing large number of monitors running EVE pew pew in unison...) Cool

Any official way to do unattended install? (does normal MSIEXEC.exe on the MSI package with /quiet /install work? does also /quiet /uninstall?)

Any official way to run from the command line?

As a very in-official solution, install the msi (which should be scriptable), then run the program on one machine and copy the directory to all client (or use a network drive).
That way every client doesn't have to download all the resources.

Edit: the probe only bothers with fps, disk/network loading is irrelevant to graphics-dudes.

Hmm, true, I guess it doesn't really install anything important so just a copy of one installed folder on a network drive should do the trick.

So, command line running?

zip file alternative download would be nice.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Froze after the first scene. Runs without issue after restarting Probe.

Two runs completed, less, almost no, stuttering than with the first release. (GTX660)

It showed "not responding" after completion, when in fact it was just uploading the results. Maybe add some feedback or some people may get trigger happy and kill it during upload.

We have plans of providing ways of automating runs in test labs. I´ll post an update here in the near future. We would very much appreciate the added coverage :)

I´ll look into ensuring the launcher stays responsive during uploads. Unfortunately there is a small error in this build that causes excessive logging, so the results are larger than usual, causing the upload to take longer than before. We´ll fix that in the next update, probably in the next day or two.

Same thing happened to me. Froze on the first scene. I killed the processes, restarted, then it ran fine.
