Faction Warfare Ranks Benefits

Ok here is the thing, we all know there is a Rank Hierarchy in FW but there is no benefit from it.

In real life the military also have this Hierarchy but there are benefits and responsibilities with it, usually a higher ranking officer has a better pay than lower ones also they have more responsibility.

I would really like to see some kind of benefit implemented to the FW ranking system.

Ideas and suggestions for this matter!

I suggest that the Rank actually gives a % increase in the LP gain.

MORE SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

knowing CCP they would nerf LP on lowest rank and at max rank you would get the same lp as you get now.

that's how it's done in this game

Soooo... in order to get better PvE rewards... you have to PvE even more?

Explain to me how this is not a self-serving buff to FW farming.

It was just a suggestion there can be other ways on making the already placed Rank system to work, My rank is lowest in militia so no its not a self serving buff! But i really think there should be some kind of benefit to it.

The benefit can't be a 'get more income' benefit. If there is a benefit it should be a widening of things, not a scaling up.

If i recall correctly, in most militaries around the world, higher ranking officials generally do get paid more. It'd be a logical change. You can't just spew out a negative response and assume OP wants to make the game unfair with a radical new change. Having small percentage of bonuses wouldn't break the game in my honest opinion. Notice how i used the word "small". For example, the stat differences between basic and expensive implants gives only a small percentage bonus to a pilot; who's to say LP and FW ranks can't function in the same manner?

There are problems with your argument:

- lore-wise we are not "officers" or even "military" in the traditional sense. We are 3rd parties contracted by each respective faction to fight in their stead with our own manpower and equipment.
The best RL parallel to our status would be the Privateer/Corsairs of the old mercantile age.

- mechanics-wise, it rewards people who do strictly PvE in faction warfare... not PvP (at least... rising up the ranks via PvP is so low that it might as well not exist).
You gain ranks by running missions and complexes. Many of the young farming alts who do nothing but run missions and complexes have higher ranks than those of us who have PvPed in faction warfare for YEARS (and arguably contributed more to the warzone beyond system percentages).
And you can't [further] tie an increase in rankings to PvP because then that opens up the possibility to farming in the same manner LP was when FW was revamped.

- LP rewards for complexes and missions are large. Like... REALLY large. I can get ~10,000 LP for running an offensive novice complex in a Warp Core Stabbed Tristan (with Tier 3 militia strength). Give even a 5% bonus and you have just added 500 LP to that reward. Do that 5 times and you have 2,500 extra LP.
If you are chaining level 4 Faction Warfare missions you are averaging around 20,000 to 50,000 LP an hour (conservative estimate). A 2% bonus reward gives an extra 400 to 1000 LP. Do that for two hours a day for a week and it adds up.

- personally... I am against further rewarding PvE activities in Faction Warfare. If anything, they should be reduced so that people join militia to actually fight rather than farm.

And in real life commanding officers of high rank lose a lot when things go bad. Often times for things beyond their control. Insert my fond memories of NCO formations in the Marines where we were yelled at for long periods of time because we failed to stop a Marine from doing something stupid.

The fact said Marine not even in our unit and we would not know them from a can of paint made these speeches...and following liberty lockdowns....just so much fun. And up above us....the officers were getting their speeches. Which is funny...officers tend to not mingle as much with us. They are in a position worse than ours to control the actions of 1 dumb ass Marine out of 1000's. Yet there they are, getting nailed for their mistakes.

So in the spirit of that....where is the risk? IE. what happens to FW "leadership" when a campaign goes bad. Lets have amarr take from minmatar on a push. What do the minmatar generals lose. For every great general who had the luck and skill to win and move up in the world....there have been the generals who failed and just fade off into the sunset. Some not by choice, they were told to go away,

If an amarr "officer" is a bonehead, what happens to him? I once a had lt. colonel as a CO fired on his day off. Put in military terms, he was relieved of command on a Saturday. Messed up bad enough group CO couldn't even wait till Monday (start of work week) to do this.

Will bad things happen to mix with the good here the tl;dr. YOu know...so we keep the whole rl military rank structure thing if used as a basis for this.

Nope there are already too much farmers in fw. The income should be lowered for the pve missions not increased.

Ok how about a passive bonus for FW fleets

Make it in a way that in addition to the Leadership Skills bonus the Rank of the person in the Fleet Booster Role also affects it!

We have the leadership skills for warfare:

Armored, Information, Siege and Skirmish wish give a 2% bonus per level.

Maybe an additional 1% can be added to that bonus for each rank for the fleet booster role.

In FW the Ranks go from Ensign to General, basically an Ensign in the fleet booster role will give an additional 1% bonus on top of the leadership skill where as a General will give a 10% bonus on to of the leadership skills.

Example: Fleet Booster = Siege Warfare lvl 5 (10% to shields) + Rank of Captain (4%) = 14% to shields capacity

And So on!

For FW ranks to have in-game effect - besides standing - there needs to be a war in FW.

Right now is is more about farming than war.

If the farming would be reduced - or for farming you would need to go to war - then a real benefit form a rank would be nice.

Boosts are way to effective right now - so let them as they are.

More victroy points and % for system capture would be cool.

Decreased rank-dependant ship insurance cost. LP farmers won't win much, but "true militia" will be glad.

Hell no. This will just make people more hesitant to engage in any system that they do not own (because an extra 4% can make or break an engagement).
If you don't believe me... then ask yourself why people pay 150 million ISK for implants that give an extra 5% to weapon damage/rate of fire/speed/shields/repair amount/capacitor/powergrid/CPU/etc.

Plus, I do not like the idea of Condors, Garmurs, Worms, and other super fast ships going even faster.

This I can get behind. As long as it applies only to the down payment for insurance and not the actual payout for insurance.

Increase the rewards gained by killing members of enemy faction by 100 percent at top rank. Rewards are tiny anyway, 100 percent works.

I'm almost sure "killing" was mentioned... Big smile
