I just started and seem to have gotten off track already.

I did the basic tutorial and then moved on to the advanced academy. I've chosen to go with Exploration first and kind of worked my way by trial through section 1 finding Cosmic Anomalies and bring back evidence. Now on section 2 I need to find Cosmic Signatures and I don't have a clue what to do. The Exploration agent states that the tutorial agent will explain what to do but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've only got a couple of hours to complete the section and no real clue where to go from here.

Do I need Core Probe Launcher I and Core Scanner Probes and if so where do I get them, they don't seem to have been supplied.

thanks

I've never done the tutorials (approaching year 6 too), so I can't be of much help other than say you can buy core probes and launcher from the market, if you were not given any.

If you can't find them in your local area, you may have to travel to a trade hub.

Yes, for Cosmic Signatures you need to probe them and thus you need the Probe Launcher fitted and loaded with the Scanner probes.

When in doubt btw, reopen agent conversation and read what you should do again (we all messed up that 1 mission in the past where we didn't read what was required of us).

You can use this website for a small walkthrough on what you need to do.

So basically Mission 2:

Accept mission
Undock and warp to mission
Follow acceleration gate (each one will drop you in certain type of signature where AURA will explain what it is).
At end, you have container with probe launcher and probes...pick them up.

Still doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for the help, but I've uninstalled, I find the whole experience too counter-intuitive for me. Which is a shame, it looked amazing, but not a good personal fit I guess.

Wish we could have more people like you, that don't blame the game for being wrong but just see that EVE isn't a good fit for them.

Hope you might try it again in the future. If so (or if you during your trial want to give it 1 more go), I suggest you seek help in game from veterans. A whole bunch of veterans are more then willing to assist you in game in chat to help you through the rough part.

excellent - cause ya - if the tutorial is so confusing that nothing on the forums, or google, or the actual info the agent gives you helps then your entire eve career would have been a drag. Cause its all that .. 10 years later and i still look stuff up and ask questions daily and constantly live in a state of knowing i dont know what is going on. Some people thrive on that sorta feeling - the urge to keep going forward .. to find a solution somehow - someway ... maybe even ask for help .. alot .. others cant deal with it in a positive way and who would want to pay for something like that. different strokes for different folks. and thats a good thing.

History is the study of change.

For what it is worth - what makes eve interesting to many vets is that it is a constant learning experience. Player "knowledge" is rewarded in the game. It always amazes me that just when I think I got a handle on how to play the game, I find that there is more depth and more to learn. Exploration BTW is probably one of the harder things to grasp as a new player, since it is somewhat difficult to explain in words how to do what you have to do to be successful. But in the old days it was much worse, and there were many, man,y players who simply did not do exploration, leaving it to a hardcore that struggled through. Which brings me to another point, eve is what you make it - dont like exploration then simply dont do it - it wont impact your eve career at all. Just find something that you like and run with it. For me, my wall of failure is t2 invention and production - dont understand it, and it seems way to dense for me to even try - yet it hasnt slowed my eve career at all. I got lots of shiny stuff that other people have made and I put it to good use ruining other people's days.

Also it is not uncommon for people to throw up their hands at eve's learning curve, quit and then try again later. It took me two tries before I actually got into the game, but I been playing steadily ever since. GL and hopefully maybe one day you give eve a shot again.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

I know this person is gone, but, having only just done this tutorial yesterday, I have to agree. It gives no help at all. Only for the fact I have played this game before I am pretty sure I would have been utterly lost. That particular tutorial needs a major overhaul.

Might want to add this to the "Tutorial suggestions" sticky that is made by the Devs to keep track of issues / keep input going for the ongoing improvement of NPE

In case you come back or someone else has the same question. You get the launcher, probes, data & relic analyzers for free in the 2nd exploration tutorial. They are in a structure as loot after the first acceleration gate.

This game is not for everyone. There is a lot of out of game help for stuff like this. WIth exploration in particular I know there is a lot of youtube videos.

I know of two types of people that will stick with this game. The first is ones that have a real life friend that will hold their hand through the first month or two and be there to answer questions. The second is the type that like banging their head against a brick wall just to see how long it takes them to pass out from blood loss.

In all seriousness though, google and youtube are your friends when trying to learn how to do stuff in eve.

You could have clicked in the upper left-hand corner where it said "Agent Missions" or right-clicked in space, selected the encounter, and warped to it. From there you would have had a series of windows pop up with instructions. Aside from the rest of the missions in this tutorial, requiring you to probe down the objective, this will be the way you get to them from here on out.

You, too, can be a Solid Gold dancer.
