Dread Pirate Scarlet: Why cant I get it?

So i run missions out in amarr space (as in all the lvl 4 agents in khopa, pen , yeermon, ashab, etc) trying to pull the more desirable missions. My friend does the same thing, but time and time again he pulls dread pirate all the time and I struggle not to get crappy small time missions like THe Score, etc.

Is there anything that can factor into this mission selection process by the agent?

How high is your standing with your agents? Both my alts have 10 standing with their mission agents and have been getting Scarlet on a very regular basis.

He should try Caldari space. I get this mission frequently from my agent when I feel like doing a few L4's. She must dig my beard. Either way... It's the luck of the draw. I'm unsure how high standing effects the frequency of this mission, but I hover around 6-7 points.

Maybe that is it. I only got like 7.1 standings because I gained acess to these agents by just having a high amarr standing and have not yet built them very high. Ill just keep at it Big smile

Standings have no effect on the mission selection — it is all, as you say, the luck of the draw.

If you keep at it, you will get the mission — not because you've gained higher standings, but because you've kept at it.

I'm estimating you've got about a 5% chance of getting the Dread Pirate Scarlet mission every time you're offered a L4 mission.

Since I started keeping database records, 5% has been the rate for me. The sample size of only 200 missions is not enough to have great 'confidence' in this percentage, but it's all I can go on for now.

Sometime during December 2010/January 2011 - it was one of the things CCP did while totally ignoring the "flying in space" side of the game.

Then the idea of high standings may have some merit. My mission alts have not gotten this mission until about a month or so ago....about the time they got 10 point agent standings. Now they seem to get it on a regular basis. They run with Republic Security so I don't know if the NPC corp has any bearing. Like Arctur they mission in Caldari space

…or not, because if standing was a factor, I would have gotten it from the very start since I'm at 10.0 with my agent and has been for quite some time. Even so, I didn't get that mission until just a few weeks ago.

Same, I only saw this mission since Crucible launched.

While I don't have any firm proof either way, based purely on (admittedlyunreliable) personal experience (from grinding up multiple new agents) I'm pretty convinced that mission selection is affected by agent standings. Have there been any Dev posts or thorough investigations into whether this is true?

I agree with Tippia totally random. Like her I didn't get the mission until a couple months ago, I wasn't playing much before that. I get it maybe 3 times in a week of heavy mission running. (maybe more have not kept score) I do know they fixed the respawn. Unlike incursions.....

It is sort of like the other good missions, Enemies Abound please give that to me every day. I get World's Collide and Extrava missions 3 to 5 times to Red. I think they just made it low random mission.

My alt got it at 5.6 standing last night. May have been 6 but that was the last time I looked.

Thinking of worlds collide I think the rewards on Overseer was totally gimped and nerfed. I had 1+ mil overseer the other night and dropped nothing use to get BPC's for that one.

I run missions from Gallente space atm, and often get the Scarlett mission. In fact, I would say I get the mission quite a lot, which is cool because I dual box and when both characters get the same mission [often in the same system] the isk simply floods.

Seems as random as the old BPO lottery from years ago. What?
