Limits and standing need adding, other than that, great.

While we are talking about new notifications (PI, and Indy) don't forgot market notifications for order failure/completition.
Would be nice to know when an order fails (expires or isk not available to complete [margin trading])

The Notification windows looks very nice visually Smile

However for the watchlist contacts, some functionality appears to be several more mouse clicks away, specifically the menu options that were on the right click context menu in the old system as the contact was displayed in the green or red square as they logged in or out. i.e. 'Remove Contact'

An example of how thats commonly used might help:

When fighting someone in a system or region, its typical to quickly add them as a contact and put them on the watchlist, the reason being if you're not on grid with them and they disappear from local, you can immediately tell if they've logged or merely jumped to the next system. This technique is also used to determine if someone is setting up a logoff trap, or whether they've decided to log rather than risking a gate jump past a hostile fleet. etc. etc.

So.........you usually end up with quite a few contacts on the watchlist over the course of a few days 'combat', which upon seeing them in the old green background popup square on the bottom right hand side a day or so later (i.e. no longer of interest), you could just right click and 'Remove Contact'.
However in the new notification system, there's no context menu with 'Remove Contact' onSad
A click of the icon does take you to the window that doing a 'show info' on the character would also take you, and you can click on the 3 dashes in the top left to being up the menu option there, but its all a few more clicks than having the 'Remove Contact' on the context menu as before.

...so I suppose I'm asking for the character context menu to be on the character notification icon as before, as opposed to taking me to the 'Show info' window, and clicking on its 3 dashes menu, inorder to get to where that context menu now resides.

Skill training notifications happen twice: once when the skill completes and once when you log in. I know this is because the old-style notifications just got tossed all in a box, but it'd be nice to only get the one when it actually completes.

Hey guys love the new tool.

Just one thing that bothers me at the moment, At the moment if i see a notification while logged in, i have to then open the notification history to clear the red number. It would be nice if i could achieve the same thing by just clicking the red number>

PS love that i can test this beta feature in tranquility that should happen more often

Looks nice, good work thus far! I see some room for improvements:

UI
> customizeable positions: i wish to place it somewhere else rather - I see, this is already working. Thx for the hint :)
> consider customizable colortags like in overview and or broadcast history settings

Content / Notification types overhaul?
> the already loudly meantioned types that are currently missing.
> Have you considered adding kill-mail notifications, most - especially new players don't find them at first. They should have more to celebrate when getting a "dude you killed someone, look at what has been destroyed!" notification? Maybe even corp-killmail notifications for directors. (this might crash some RVB clients right?)
> In general, the current feature only seems to care about the already known types of notification. not considering new, or long forgotten types of notifications - or future ones? I just spit it out here, maybe when owning a stargate one wants to see who got thru it or get notifications of some sort. So whatever the back-end notification objects look like, they better be ready for the 2nd decade.

Navigation
> The navigation should go to the corresponding object (like skillque stuff) not to the mail. A war dec should show the war vs. info, A contact notification should allow me to open either my contacts or better show that characters info right away. This might be affected depending on the players roles.
> drag & drop certain notification types into chat channel should be possible to link for example characters, contracts, war reports to fellow pilots.

Side note / comment
> Serverload / Notification delay: i remember to read some stuff meantioned about this years ago. I have no clue about the technical aspect of how they are implemented, wether they are unified in an actual code object or spaghetti mail notifications :) how-ever, I can imagine as notifications go across cluster and should be in reasonable time without too big of a delay a seperate system is used for just that reason (oh, considering 3rd party access / crest whatever it would be nice to see proper notification in eve gate or via CREST to see war-decs and similar.) Even if notifications become more and more it would it not make sence to just drop notifications to a dedicated instance and let it handle the rest (notify corresponding clients/cache data for 3rd party access/ whatever... ). I can't help these thoughts come to my mind - sorry for not being up to date with all topics meantioned and just blurring them at you here.

Thank you guys

I really love it !

But it's a bit weird to see almost-two-years-old notifications in the list Shocked

Second this one.

Overall I like the notification system - will do so even more with some of the suggested changes are added.

3. Standings for contacts.

This is would be top priority. It's no use to know someone logged in if you can't immediatly see why they're on your watchlist. You could also have Labels together with standings/colour.

Still waiting for this: [Feature Suggestion] Show label(s) in Character Information window

Very nice feature.

+1 that standings level should appear on the contact log in / log off notification

Possible Bug: I was playing around with moving the notification tile around and now have my client in a state (after moving and clicking near centre of window) whereby my mouse is permanently attached to the settings button in the notification window, so all i can do is keep moving the whole thing around, and click the settings button to display or hide that settings window.

Feature Request: Ability to hide all notifications older than a day, or a configurable amount of time.

Hovering over a notifcation while the window is up should have some sort of delay before the detailed info is shown.

Having the window open seems to have an impact on framerate as well.

Apart from already mentioned suggestions (right-click/clear all/...):

- Additional column in the settings to toggle "Adds to New Notifications counter"

Reasoning:
There are various kinds of notifications, that are nice to have a log of (-> Show in history) but don't require any immediate follow-up action.
And example would be contacts logging on/off. I have the popup active, so that part works like before. Now I also have the history, which is useful for questions like "How long ago did he login?" or "I think I saw him log in.. did I?". But the counter detracts attention from more important notifications that require action soon.

Just wanted to stop by and say this feature is cool :)

Haven't really dug into it too hard to find anything buggy with it, tho seems to work just fine.

I'm very passionate about UX design. My immediate thought when I saw this was "why is there yet another thing on my interface?". I would like to see this become (at the very least as an option) a feature of the main Neocom button that nobody uses. Rather than left-clicking to expand the neocom menu, a palyer would right-click to open notifications. Of-course the notification count would be displayed on the button. The existing right-click functionality is not lost because it can still be accessed by right-clicking on your portrait or any any blank area of the Neocom. This very efficiently makes use of existing space, and is the logical place for the feature given that the necom is thematically the central location for many such things. Furthermore, the oppotunity to add seperate notification counts of different colors (for each type of notification) becomes available depending on how wide a player has chosen to make their neocom. It's a win-win imo, but as with anything someone is bound to think that's a terrible idea so perhaps leaving the ugly button that doesn't even respect window snapping regions would be good as an alternative option.

First, the mouse-over info-pop-up when hovering over the new 'notification history' list...is just....insanely overwhelming.

Remember how well it was received when this same sheer amount of information was spewed all over the market screen and browse tab.

In order to read the messages behind this info pop-up, one must take the mouse off the notification window...which subsequently (and quickly) allows the window to automatically minimize itself....sorta self-defeating if you ask me...not a fan of the effort involved to read the new screen.

I like overall, but I persistently black screen on login when I use it (managed to open the escape menu and disabled it to log in, then re-enabled).

Appears to have been sort of fixed. Now it takes about 2 min to render the screen, but that's probably because I have about 30 chat channels.

And it doesn't stop my mailbox from flashing for notifications, not sure if that's intended or not?

In the old contact notification system when a contact comes online you could right-click it and got the context menue for that player pop up (give cash, fleet invites, all that stuff). It would be nice if you could bring that back for the new notification system.

Never not post.

loving the new notifications, nice job CCP.

Another vote to see the standings you've set show up when a character in your address book logs in; and maybe which groups they're assigned to.

I like it, can we get the notifications thing to "snap" to the edges of other windows etc please? you know, like the rest of the IU windows do?
