Hi

I'm returning to EVE after about a year and a half and need to find my bearings again.. Although I have a moderate understanding of how things work in EvE, I still consider myself new for the purpose of this topic.

I'm very interested in stealthy gameplay. I have a Buzzard that I can fly and have many skills already geared towards Stealth. at this time PvP is not a goal, but I would eventually like to venture into Nul space.

I'd like advice on what I can focus on doing to make money being stealthy. The Buzzard obliviously doesn't have great cargo space so is it worth trying to salvage? What about relic sites and hacking? If I mess up a hack will I be able to escape rats? I'm still very much a noob when it comes to scanning, but I will look on youtube for a guide on that. What system level am I looking for to get decent ISK?

A side note, what actually got me to come back to EVE was the GORGEOUS looking SoE ships.. But I've just found out that their cloak delay is 30 seconds.. I'm not going to be able to explore effectively in those am I? This won't put me off at all, I'll either stick with a stealthier ship or adjust my gameplay for these ships.

Thanks for any help

The reactivation delay on those ships is 15 sec. I think my Astero is amazing. I'm pretty much a newb though. Relic sites are good. Data sites don't really give you much though.

Oh really, well that's not so bad.. Yes I had my eye on the Astero initially.. Do you only find relic sites of worth in low/nul? I think I will focus on relic sites but I need about a month to train on subsystems. Any suggestions on what I can be doing in the meantime? I'm in no rush to head out into low/nul straight away. It would be a bit foolish I think.

A 15 second cloak delay is good enough then?

Forget eventually. Get into null now.

It's a great place to make money as a stealth pilot. Well... train up your probe skills first and hacking. But don't waste time in high sec when you could be having some serious fun in the big empty.

Its's also very dangerous for a pilot still finding his feet lol.. Trust me, I want to get there ASAP, but I want to be smart about it :)

I think I might start the SoE epic quest line while my skills train and me too..

I haven't tried null sec yet. I'm mainly in low sec and for my purposes it's a good place to be. I want to get into null and wormholes eventually though.

I haven't done much in high sec so I can't say if there's isk to be made or not. If it's not dangerous, I'm not having fun.

I've been chased a few times in low sec. Set bookmarks in every system and align, align, align. Always keep an eye on who's in the system and you should be fine.

If you're going to wait to get into low or null sec. Train up just enough to hunt down and do relic sites and have at it in high sec. Practice like you're in low though to enforce good habits.

Try to find less traveled areas or you'll be competing quite a bit for sites.

Uhm.

It doesnt get safer with time spent in game.

Nullsec requires a certain way of living you cant learn in highsec. No matter how long you stay in highsec, in null youll be new again. So get there now and learn it.

I jumped an alt into a wormhole and did some exploring, seemed like a pretty easy way to get out into null. Plus there are some holes with a ton of sites in them too. not sure what to expect from either as I haven't done them. but looks like there is plenty to do.

J'Poll hits it on the head again. Null life is completely different to high or low. Just get out there with a good corp/alliance, and they'll get you on your feet.

A difference between WH & NULL is also that each and everyone of the WH sites are defended, so you can't hack them with a brittle ship. It's possible to tank the last Sleeper (of the initial spawn) while you hack with a cruiser or above though.

I really like the Astero for null exploration, and in my experience relics are generally better value than data sites (at least in my area!)

No rats to avoid, you fail the hacking game, loot goes pop. Was never yours to begin with so no loss there. Going null just be prepared to loose out on some of those ships filled with loot you got. Try make for systems where there is not so much activity - read: you're the only one in local.

Or renter space, they're probably more afraid of you being the cyno for that blops gang they don't know about.

Just make sure you map out places with bookmarks that WILL save you. Try use WHs to cross huge jumps, and avoid those commonly camped pipe systems.

I would advise you take a cheap T1 frigate with a MWD and basic cloak into null and practice just getting around. If you practice cloak/MWD, you should be able to navigate 98% of null without dying. Once you can get around without the covops cloak, take your buzzard out and start doing exploration.

I started exploration in null before I could fly a covops. I would actually suggest NOT using a covops at first, because (while you will die more), it will teach you how to get around much easier.
