Top Five Frigs

Haven't seen one of these type of threads in a while. And with the changes to dram and hybrid (cause small hybrid didn't need much help but got full bump anyway).. I'm curious where people sit on this now. I'll drop my list.. with reasons for each..

1 - Daredevil. Speed, dps, lockdown, range dictation, reliable slot layout. Blasters or rails.. it does not matter for this beast. Solo or gang work, without a doubt.. the Daredevil to me is the King of Frigs. It simply is the perfect frig to me.

2 - Jaguar. Because of how solid all three are with this hull, I'm putting the cream of it at number 2. You want a heavy tackler.. really shouldn't look much further. While its dps and applied overall dps (just like engine horsepower and brake horsepower are different) are slightly lacking to some others, its adaquate speed and hardy, easy to manage tank allow one to focus on the task at hand.. capture n hold.. hence its name, and it has lived to such so well for so long.

3 - Taranis. Real men hull tank. That's all there is too it. The Daredevil's big brother.. as the Taranis was spawned first into existence and I believe it is the Taranis's exceptional reputation amongest her handlers that lead to the creation of the superior DD. Inty speeds and locking, with insane firepower from a toxic-waste born pelican. Adrenline at its finest.. if you aren't leaving a dogfight on fire, then you aren't in a Taranis.

4 - Hookbill. To me this ship can just be flat out wrong. I wanted to list all the Navy Frig Class ships at four, but decided on the top one. The slicer gives Amarr pilots something wrong.. laser + range dictation abilities = evil. The comet, while deeply sadden it lost its Police Squad badge.. it is a brute.. a faster, better version of an Enyo. Firetail with it's new smoked black skin has turned it into Batman.. almost gave it number 1 simply cause of that. And then.. the Hookbill. Fast rocket pooper with dual webs is just wrong.. when you can make your enemy take full dmg as you take low end of theirs, you're doing something horribly Right.

5 - Worm. If ya don't know.. ya jus' don't know. And some of you won't get it till you experince it performed the right way. While its dps is poor.. its applied dps is actually better than you think. Where blasters are short, and barrage misses in falloff.. this is full bore generally all the time. It'll gnaw on your cruisers like a toothless crack hooker.. slowly sucking the life right out of you, taking your will away. How many frigs can passive tank a flight of bonused light T2s? This one. Better buffer, regen, tank in general.. better speed.. than an Ishkur. Trust me.. don't catch Worms.

Feel free to leave your list, with reasons or not. Comment/flame on mine or others.. I do not care. I am curious where the tide of frig favor is atm in EVE.

Manticore, because with extra torpedo and bomb support it can literally become a suicide bomber, like in COD MW - bazooka + martydom (hand held suicide grenade, that goes off as your heart stops, killing your murderers in tight places)

Drop the bomb, fit appropriate hardeners, extra HP, let dumb daredevil engage - boom wham. If you tanked your manti right, you can take up to two bombs.

With that fit you won't even be in the explosion radius of the bomb. It flies at 3km/s for 10 seconds and have a radius of 15km, so that means that you'll need to fly at 1,5 km/s for 10 seconds to be hit by your own bomb.

I think he means to sit in the bomb radius so that the MWD frig pops while he laughs it up.

I only wish. That would make it well worth flying.

For the record, the Worm and the Ishkur get the same bonus: +5 drone bay capacity/level.

I brought a Worm randomly cause I like the Merlin shape what is this fit of crack hookerness you speak of? Can't find any that look at all good.

Shame they nerfed the hookbill a while back, I used to passive tank archaeology complexes (One particularly well known one in minmatar space was a favourite hangout for me) in mine and laugh at all the gangs of cruisers that came in and had to run away when they got even a small amount of aggro as I just sat there getting shot at from all directions calmly scanning a floating bit of junk.
It was OBSCENELY tough for a frigate.

It was obvious that the fun had to end at some point but before it did I made at least three billion isk in my hookbill, it more than paid for itself.

Days sadly gone by now, I guess it was unbalanced though.
