PVE/Incursion advice

Hi all,

I'm currently running L4 missions in a Navy Raven, and getting along alright. My aim at some point down the line is to be able to join an Incursion fleet, but I know i'm a ways away from it.
However, I thought that if could run L4's in a Machariel, I would be in a better position to start the skill train for incursions.

what levels should I get my gunnary skills and oher general skills to? As I know missile boats arent useful in Incursions due to missile flight time.

Also, would anybody be able to advise on my RNI fit?

I don't like relying on the cap booster, as it limits my time on grid. I'm also using EVE guiude to find out what specific hardeners I should use, but I keep the two Invul fields on.

From your fit, I'd think a prop mod, micro jump drives make a very nice fit with cruise missiles--teleport and snipe, using range to aid in tanking. Related to this, are you sure you need 4 tanking modules?

It seems to work, i'm not confident that I have the skills to do a L4 without 4, I tend to just 'stand and deliver' warp in , take everything out and then move to the next gate, Though I have never thought about using a micro jump drive, it definately appeals more to me Big smileBig smile
If I only use three tank mods and a MJD, what would you say, one invul field and two rat specifics?

It probably depends on the rat damage type. The times when an invuln might not make sense seem likely be against Laser damage, where the lowest starting shield resists mean you may get more from two EM and 1 Therm hardener. You may also want to compare effective reps of the amplifier with various hardeners, as well.

I use a Typhoon Fleet, with only 5 mids (but plenty of lows and drone bandwidth), so for me the shield booster is intended to be a very temporary measure, like waiting for a mjd timer expiration/spool up or very short missions.

Well, I tend to stick in caldari space, so mostly guristas, but some Merc, Drone and EoM, very rarely Angel.
the thing thats stopping me from sniping is my max locking distance, its about 82KM, but the cruise missile can fly upto 130KM, would dropping a invul for a meta 4 signal booster be advisable? the two rat specific hardeners, the shield booster and amplifier with a mjd. Would that setup last long enough for the MJD to spin up?

OIC actually does take the Navy Raven for our VG fleets and I also got a loan out CNR that can be loaned out for the time of the fleet. However it does require hull upgrades 4 for the armor amount and the armor compensation skills to for the EANM to 4, since we are a armor channel. Also probably a bit more SP in drones can't hurt to use sentry drones and hit with them beyond 50km(advanced avionics to 3 or 4 etc.).

Goal ships for missile pilots are normally fleet phoon or RS. There is a link to the ingame channel in my Bio.

As for the L4 fitting, you probably should size down the cap booster and the X large booster to get rid of the fitting mods and add Rigor rigs instead T1 dps rigs(that stack against normal damage mods and add very little if you don't fit T2 rigs). Faction hardeners are cheap and can also help to save CPU, if you really need more tank switch the DDA with a DCU. Il run a MWD on my CNR for L4s but I guess a AB or MJD is more reasonable with lower navigation and cap skills. Also get launcher rigging to 4, it is a core skill and essential for most missile hull fittings, simply because most missile hulls use 2-3 of them.
