"Mining" skill for Ice harvesting

I looked that the description of the "Mining" skill and it says "Skill at using mining lasers. 5% bonus to mining turret yield per skill level".

Does this have an affect on Ice mining or is it just specifically the Ice Harvesting skill? I have Mining to 4 for the prerequisite but I don't want to waste training time taking it to 5 if it is only for Ore mining. I will only mine Ice. Thanks

It's for ore only.

You can't harvest a partial block of ice.

Ice harvesting bonuses are all cycle duration reductions.
