Feel free to judge, I had one of my old old chars hit 1000 as a hisec miner lol. The list somehow got huge that way: passerbys, explorers, wormhole residents, haulers, mission runners, fellow miners, gankers, etc.

It's standard procedure for many HS Merc/PVP group to add all targets to their watch lists using sites such as Eve-Tools.com. This is pretty much required if you plan on hunting (via locates) rather than camping hubs/pipes.

I'm personally around 1k contacts at any given time, and often have too many targets to have them all added on just my main.

This is about why you can hit the limit very easily.
Other reasons are to make notes on awox'ers, known titan / cap pilots (if a few red ones all log in at once you know somethings about to happen) etc.

in my experience even players who leave the game , dont leave, they go inactive for months/ years sometimes, but they do return and i like to know about it. the only players i would consider removing are the ones in doomhiem. i have removed several for that reason.

i would even like to see another category or two between blue and neutral, but thats another topic

to some i would think contacts have little or no effect to their game and others like myself use the contacts list as part of the game they play.

its an extremely useful tool.

Meh...

The day I leave it's for good. All toons biomassed with ISK, Ships, Gear... All gone. About 200 Billion Worth right now...

Was the contacts list meant to be a roster of all your friends and enemies or just a list of people you...contact?

Am I just a scrub or am I missing something..... why would a miner want all these things?
