contact list upper limit?

i tried to add a contact today and hit the limit of my list. who knew? not i.

i dont now about everyone else but every single contact i have is there for a reason, just deleting contacts just wont work for me.

i had a minor trawl through old threads about the limit and i was less than successful.

is the limit set by ccp alone?

can i petition to get a bigger list ?

or should i just HTFU and delete all my contacts and just fly about with everyone set neutral.

just to recap, trimming my contact list is not an option, i have a terrible memory and a mile wide stalker streak.

i welcome your comments

Yes the fact there's a limit means it's CCP set.

No petitioning won't increase it (because they'd have to increase it for everyone else as well). You could try starting a thread in features & ideas forum for an increase though.

Only solution I found was to make your own corp and set corp standings once you hit the limit.

And no one cares to tell us this ominous upper limit ......
... especially not the OP.

That's not an answer.

You can absolutely see the amount of contacts you have
so you can absolutely, with ease, tell us the limit.

As you do not answer my seriously easily understandable question ...
... it makes a lot of sense to assume that you're just trolling.

But I'm totally willing to admit that I'm wrong ...
... if you provide us with an actually accurate answer.

Thanks. :)

I deleted some to free up space so I don't know what it is. II didn't delete 100 contacts and I have 1018 right now so I feel safe in saying that it is between 1000 and 1101. If that doesn't satisfy you, well you know what you can do...

This is an actual answer. You aren't sure,
but you are smart enough to figure the range and tell us.

The OP though is either a dimmed light, a troll or doesn't care **** about anyone else.

Thanks! :)

I had a clear out of no longer active contacts, but when I hit the limit before I think it was 1024 personal and 999 alliance.

I'd be more inclined to complain about the personal locations limit, it's not big enough by far to have offensive / defensive / station perches / 1au to gates in every system.

And that's why I used corporate contacts...more room to add people.

Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded

Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

It took me around ~8 months to reach the 1000 limit back then.. and I had notes on every one of them.

I'm actually in the process of creating a third party tool for this and in my early test phases, i've managed to collect ~12,000 names in 3 days. Getting that many items had me realize the possible constraints/reasoning of why CCP put up a hard limit.

Out of those 1000, how many are actually still playing or have you contacted in months or years? Seems crazy to me. I have less than 20 contacts. And even some of those have left the game...

The people that reach this many contacts 'tag' characters as red or blue, cause thats part of how EvE works: you have to know who to shoot.

Sometimes I'd dwell in lowsec, and the contact list was useful in tagging pirates, industrialists, FW militia, gank targets etc.

A higher limit would be appreciated, or least show the last time a character has logged in. If I know that someone's been offline for 12+ months, I can safely delete them.

Not blue shoot it. Done Blink

I still see no reason to have 1000 people on your contact list. If you don't like a group of people just add their corp or alliance with bad standings.

It's a mentality thing, I guess.

What strikes me as weird is the idea that people who are marked as red stay red forever,
which ignores the possibility that there might be reasons to blue a person again.

I mean ... when one has so many contacts one can't possibly have actual, continuous contact with ...
... it means that a blue/red setting is pretty much a permanent thing.

If we now add the possibility that "red" also means "I don't like",
then the standings are a permanent marker that denies people the ability of changing.

This reminds me a bit of people who collected hundreds of gigabytes of mp3s ...
... and then tell me "I am listening to everything" as if that was even remotely possible.

It's standard procedure for many HS Merc/PVP group to add all targets to their watch lists using sites such as Eve-Tools.com. This is pretty much required if you plan on hunting (via locates) rather than camping hubs/pipes.

I'm personally around 1k contacts at any given time, and often have too many targets to have them all added on just my main.

After a long while I went there today again,
to add wartargets ...

They require a password now ...
