Start capital production now or Wait until everything settles down?

Dear fellow capsules.

I´ve been away from game for a wee while, now here is my questions. I have the necessary skills to get in to production of capital ships, freighters and orca are the one I see some potential profit at the moment I´m writing. However I am not sure if this can be feasible due CCP changing the mechanics of the game with this new way to introduce patch in game.

Should I start doing my production or should I wait until everything settles down regarding capital construction production?

In advance many thanks for the advise.

Shen.

I too am a returnee from a significant break (30mth) - but already had the wherewithal to do what you are looking for before stopping....

Since the Crius (if I read correctly) patch there have been some significant changes that may affect your decision(s):

- the BPOs have become more expensive than when I left (sounds good, but they may not give their return any time soon)

- the cost to research them to the , seemingly necessary, ME10% (although not, however, Orca and Obelisk) is very significant. As an example, the cost to research the final ME of a Rorqual BPO in a reasonable High Sec NPC station (with max skills and implant) was 3.25 billion iskies

- finally the actual build cost in an, also reasonable, NPC station is also significant - 30+m for an Obelisk yesterday

In particular reference to the Orca, because I was doing the maths last week, people are selling below the price that I can sell the minerals (let alone Ore!) for.

Now, all that said, it is quite possible (as I've seen noted in reading these last couple of weeks) that we are in a period of change and the market has yet to adjust due to existing stocks and builds - and then things may move upwards. Interestingly, if that happens, then stockpiling ships may well be worthwhile.

If you wish to look at the numbers and determine for yourself; then I have a mass of old stock of BPCs (many of which are still pretty 'perfect') that I hope to 'get rid of' - so if you'd like, say, a BPC pack for an Orca to trial, then hit me up in game and you can have one cheap.Big smile

More on my discoveries, queries and potential buglets of ME & TE in a forthcoming post.........

Don't soil your panties, you guys made a good point, we'll look at the numbers again. - CCP Ytterbium

Thanks Marcus you've made very good points, I'm going to continue researching the market and see how things are changing in the next couple of weeks.

@Team Bidders, if you don't have anything useful to say, stop right there and don't make redundant post's in the thread, thanks.

Well, you did take the action I recommended - although for a completely different reason.

I am happy about it.
