So as title suggest what would be more profitable. (Yes i want your help with the math. Troll away if you like) Basically i can use a hulk in high sec for the kernite with exhumers to 4 or a covetor in lowsec for jaspet. Will be using MSM with T2 crystals.

Both carry ganking risks so am just after the math of what would be better. And i am only mining for ISK to fund other things not looking to manufacture any time soon.

Using http://ore.cerlestes.de/index.html for price checking, Kernite is worth around 20% less than Jaspet. So if you can mine 20-25% faster in highsec, in your hulk, Kernite is your better bet

Both solid responses and thanks for the links i do find them very handy.

I am leaning towards the jaspet but with the exhumer bonus of the hulk as well as it can fit 2x mining laser upgrades whereas the covetor is limited by cpu and grid to only having one i was concerned the difference would equal out the ore/mineral values. I will look at the ore calculators some more and make a choice.

You WILL lose your hulk if you mine in low sec. Guaranteed!! Don't know about Jaspet but you can find Kernite fairly easily certainly in 0.5 space. Although given the weight of Kernite it is not a wise choice for those who wish to mine to sell on for iskies. Veldspar is the logical choice if you wish to make iskies as Tritanium continues to hold it's value in high-sec trading areas.

Viscous P./Solid P./Pyroxeres is also a good choice if exported to areas where it is not available. I'll let you work the geography out for yourself. Blink I haven't done the maths though so Veldspar may still be better than Pyroxeres.

I wish you luck if you still decide to mine in low-sec.

Umm perhaps you need to reread the original question..... At no point did i say i would be using a hulk in lowsec. LOL

And how does the weight of Kernite matter when clearly i would be refining to sell...

Can you explain your maths behind a veldspar choice as whenever i look at the refined mineral amounts and there trade hub pricing Kernite always comes out on top above Veldspar and pyroxers?

Yeah , you'll get more mining Veld than mining Kernite . I know , it's weird , but Trit is in High-demand for a while , mainly because missions-runner Loot provide more in terms of % commonly used in industry of other low-end minerals than Trit .

EDIT : Think about how many m3 of ore you'll refine , not hom many Kernite/Veld you'll refine .

What the person that mentioned moving the kernite as ore was talking about is that Kernite(regular) is also used for a level 4 storyline mission (Materials for war preparation).
Selling it as ore in storyline hubs is a good way of making a little more money than the minerals are worth, if you got the haulage to move it as such instead of refining it. I've made quite a bit of money in gallente space by mining kernite in grav sites and selling it in storyline mission stations at ridiculous prices. ( like 200% of what the minerals are worth ridiculous ;))
You know you got a missioner buying your ore when you see them buying in multiples of 8000. ( you need 8000 kernite for the mission )

Oh, and don't forget to add into your equations, that in high sec, using an orca booster/hauler will enhance your mining abilities by being able to mine more and haul less, as well as the orca bonusses( and less risk for the orca pilot, so he can use his mining foreman mindlink for another extra 5% yield :) )

Defining the issue in the only way to find the answers.
Isk per hour is dependent on several variables.
Mining works off of M3 per cycle.
M3 per cycle and cycles per minute will give you the base yield
this is dependent on skill, equipment used, and weight of the ore. (units per M3)
Veldspar has more units per m3 than Kernite witch has more units per m3 than jaspet.
you also have to consider you refine ability.
reliant on station refine %, Tax rate (standings affect this) and your refining skills.
In using average skills and devoid of fleet boost with the equipment mentioned you will be better off mining kernite in Hi sec than Jaspet in low.
Personally I use fleet boosts with an orca and mine the entire belt of all ore and refine it at a station where I have 0 take.
The math on the surface may not support Veld but as you mine more units per weight it seems a likely choice.
Personally I mine to build. I get more trit per hour from omber, pyroxers and Plag than I do veld. and yes I have all TII crystals in my hulk and max refining. this has the added benefit of yielding the more expensive minerals as well.
Mining for Isk you time is best spent mining Veld and scordite with the set up you mentioned.
The other ores will not be equally as profitable until you have max skills and fleet bonus.

Thanks for clarifying that, i should have mentioned i do have an alt on another account that hauls and boosts for me but his training is around 11days off the basic orca skills but he does currently boost for 10%. I will purchase the implant after the orca though.

Mining Veldspar or Pyroxeres will give a lot more isk/hour vs kernite at current market rates.

Also a fully skilled hulk will bring more isk/hour vs a covetor, and the risk is lower to lose your ship.
You are talking about about 7M isk/hour in covetor mining jaspet vs 8M isk/hour mining pyroxeres for example.

Main difference is that jaspet needs less room to be hauled as refined ore than high-sec ore, so you can haul more every run.

? jaspet has less units per M3 than any hi sec ore ? were is the lite jaspet I want some :)

DOH! you mean the minerals refined from Jaspet take up less space than the minerals from hi sec ore? still ?
