All rigs should be good enough that it's a really tough choice choosing one over another.

That's like being able to fit any module to your ship and still have a chance to win. Why is there a difference between pve and pvp ships? I put modules on they all should be good enough that the choice choosing one over another shouldn't make a difference, wait a second, pvp ships should usually kill pve ships?? I don't understand!! I put modules on the ship and you say my pve ship will die?

You are thinking in the terms of a perfect world. In eve isn't perfect and you can't just put whatever on your ship and expect that it should do just as well. You know that. Why are rigs any different?

You missed the point entirely. What I'm saying is that there is little to no reason to use rigs other than armor rigs (vs. damage rigs) because it's more efficient to build a ship that way than to use damage rigs.

Example: Magstab IIs and Trimarks are a better combination with more DPS/EHP than a plate/EANM2s and Hybrid DPS rigs.

If you mean you should be able to fit 3 hybrid dps rigs then I totally agree. I don't know why the dps rigs have such high calibration numbers. They should just get rid of the calibration thing. I don't see why they limit dps rigs like that but not others. I think I see your point.

But my point is still kind of valid. That's the limits of the rigs and that's the way you're allowed to fit the rigs. You either fit a ship with modules and rigs to have a better chance to win or you just have an average ship (or fail fit). I think the problem is that they aren't modules and they shouldn't be treated in the same way. Sadly, they have an odd extra fitting requirement in calibration points and that's the thing which makes them a bit different (and ofc they can't be removed).

I disagree with Lady Spank as usual.

weapon rigs really do need a buff, also but not so sever do speed rigs and other stacking penalized stuff. its not so much the bonus but more the stacking penalization and in weapon riggs regard the silly high rig bandwidth need.

Its an easy paradox, if you have an all gank ship, the rigs give no bonus, if you have an all tank ship, the rigs would give a bonus but be hideous compared to tank rigs bonus to your tanking witch you want, thats why you tank your ship in the first place. so tank rigs with a damage mod are the only sens making option here if you want some more offense.
To me, that is a no brainier, there are only ver very few ships (frigs) i might consider weapon rigs and those setups would have no FOTM advantage if you'd reduce the stacking penalty a little.
