I know why you are stuck:

2 weeks & Vexor.

In 2 weeks NO way you can be a sufficient trained frigate pilot, let alone a cruiser

Lol, I flew L4s in a Raven after 5 weeks.
Was it effective? Hell no! Was it fun figuring out fittings and tactics to beat missions like this? Definitely.

Flying a cruiser in L2s should be no problem at all after 2 weeks. I suspect the problem is more fitting than skill related.

It largely depends on the player's ability to problem-solve and deal with frustration, disappointment, and even loss.

Those having trouble should take a step back and re-evaluate their situation.

Everything that happens to you in EVE, good or bad, is because of something you did, or didn't do.

They should put that in every ad campaign they run.

Followed by: "Make your decision to play be last bad decision you ever make".

Very correct.

Of course I am having a difficult time thinking of something that would not be included in the set so defined

That's the point.

Some people blame others or game mechanics for their misfortune, and only take credit for the positives.

Example: Having trouble with the tutorials typically means one is not actually reading and understanding the information being provided. Sure, the tutorials could use some work still (example: the RP text could be removed to present only the salient points).
