Just curious, with the new unpublished ruleset now in effect, who all is taking a break and/or retiring from the shadier side of life in-game?

Not me. I already treat people with the most basic level of respect.... and have enough dignity to not pretend that acting like a terrible human being online is roleplaying.

Well good for you. Let's hope you don't catch a ban for tangentially associating with someone who participated in something that resembled an activity that once got someone banned for a reason that CCP will not divulge.

As to the OP, I am not ready to pack up yet, but my enthusiasm for Eve has been taken down several notches over this.

I'm going to keep going till I get banned or the game dies, whichever comes first.

Not that I scam or anything of the sort , I do like shooting newbies in the face though.

im all but retired at this point since its no longer clear what youre allowed to do anymore. if i use ts3 to conduct a reverse safari business, is that considered over the line?

it seems miners and mission bros can issue death threats to players like me without consequence, but my playstyle feels scrutinized and under attack. i have never felt, as a shady dude, that my playstyle was under attack (like others have) until the past months.

if i claim dominion over a hisec system and warded/bump/gank the residents unless they pay me or leave, is that considered harassment (since its targetting the same players who live there), or is that okay?

luckily i have found a good group of guys to fly with, but i still yearn to create content for others. maybe ill satisfy these urges by writing about eve and helping newbros.

I always thought that CCP actually cherished the content creators, and naively held to that viewpoint right up until the last few weeks. Unfortunately, it has become abundantly clear that the decision makers in Reykjavik view us as a liability that must be rooted out of their game.

I'm not retiring, though. All this has made me determined to be as evil a bastard as I can in highsec. It has made me see that we need to get more organized and more crafty. We need to get out there and make sure that after we've all been banned, we leave them with stories to remember us by.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

My take on it is that they still cherish the content creators, just not the ones that generate bad publicity.

What worries me is that the difference between good publicity and bad publicity is entirely subjective.

Regardless, I won't be retiring anytime soon. I've made most of my in-game contacts by shooting first and striking up pleasant conversation afterwards. Not only do I feel that is pretty non-banworthy, but giving that up would make the game so much less entertaining.

The lines are so unclear for me right now, I am not even sure war deccing is allowed any more. I might make someone cry and laugh about it on ts3. Ugh Am I still allowed to be blue with CODE ? Or make CFC cry when they die ? Roll Paying all the dec fees also make me sad.

EvE has always been advertised as a nasty game. But thank you, nameless forum alt number 2012012345692, for your sage advice.

And please, enjoy the new game you will unsub from after all the content is gone, and everyone has a topheavy wallet and never loses a ship.

For now I am still going down fighting, and expunging my angst at the death of 1,000 cuts by teaching newbros to shoot other newbro's in the face...

But, I will not be surprised when the day comes that our Kill-It-Forward notifications to our victims are deemed 'harassment', and the Star Chamber decides I should spend more time with wife (and Yamaha on open roads) again.

in closing, I quote Samwise Gamgee from Peter Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring, upon seeing the elves depart middle earth...

Not really. If you have been paying attention or have read the article, you would see that the problem with CCP's current policies is that you do not actually reap what you sow.

You can now earn a permaban for just associating with people who do stuff that may, or may not actually be "real-life harassment", however ill-defined that is, and without ever being told why.

I'm not going anywhere. And I'm not changing my behaviour (for any reasons other than changing RL circumstances). If I get banned, I get banned.

If that happens, I guess I'll move on.

I am just starting. All this just fuels my anger towards the carebears (in game). They will explode over this (in game).

I recently scammed a miner out of 8.5bil ISK (with spaceships and killrights, no voice comms, not even private or local) so I am well funded to unleash terror on New Eden (in game) for the next couple of years.

You are welcome

P.S. the only thing I would ever do in RL to another EVE player is to pay them a beer.

Here till the end, though it feels like that's coming on us pretty fast. I would think at rate CCP is losing subscribers and players they would love all the help from both the honest and criminal world in eve in creating content.

I guess the newer people mean more to CCP then the players who've been here since the beginning.
