Tech 3 Frigates

Consider this a brain fart thread because I'm bored and just kind of mulling over the subject. Frigates are cool. They are fast. They are fun. They are hard to use for anything outside of pvp.

So lets get some PVE frigate love. 3 subsystems, 50m ISK price range on the hull, balanced primarily toward PVE stuff. It'd be great to take all those frigate skills and use them in l3, WH's, maybe even incursions. Nullsec ratting and anoms. Because not everyone likes to fly a battleship. How to balance this without making them OP and dominating pvp? No idea yet. But it'd be a great, shiny toy.

Signature Radius. The sig would be small as heck, making them almost immune to most missile fire- it just wouldn't work out well. They're too fast, too small of a sig, and that plus a very strong tank makes it OP. As fun as it would be to fly something like this for missions, I'd hate to see them flying everywhere within 2 weeks of release and killing everything in their path, so... no.What?

As things stand, you can't - the frigate range as a whole already is in such a mess that introducing anything new to the mix is just going to result in more obsolete hulls that nobody uses.

Fix assault frigs, fix EA frigs, fix half the interceptors, fix most of the faction frigs ..... fix every single god damned T1 frigate except the rifter .... Fix all of those things, then maybe we can worry about T3s.

I agree the t1 pass is more important (see other threads). What if they looked at this for a "New Feature" to go along with the t1 pass though? That'd be worth an expansion right there.

Agreed, frigates in general needs a rebalancing with the bigger ships on the battlefield.

Assuming brand new pilot, no respec of attributes and no implants...it takes 47 days just to unlock the prereqs to hop into the hull of all Assault Ships, Covert Ops, EWAR, and Interceptor for a single faction. This is X Frig level 1. Divisable by 4 thats 12 days a piece dedicated for each ship. This does not include anything else, but 12 days to hope into a frig of your choice is pretty nice.

So, can anyone explain to me why you would want a ship that costs at minimum 3-4 times the cost of a T2 frig and it follows standard Stratetic Ship class rules (aka, you lose it and you lose SP as it should not be exempt just because its smaller then a T3 Cruiser otherwise a T3 cruiser will have to be "fixed" to bring it in line and we know that will not happen).
