Module streamlining in Oceanus

In the video about Oceanus, they say that groups of modules will be "condensed", so that "we don't have any of the junk named modules that noone has any use for".

Can anyone explain what this means, or link to more info?
Does it mean that some modules will no longer drop as mission loot as that "useless" type, but as a more generic useful type?
Does it mean that redundant modules will cease to exist in game? Or will they still have a separate market slot?

I can't think of that making sense.. Unless they mean merging different modules, but I can't think of any examples where that would work.
I doubt they're going to be removing meta1-3 items either, since they're not used much.
Anyway, there'll be a devblog about it soon.

The FanFest presentation CCP Fozzie and CCP Rise gave suggests things like the various lazers - Imp Navy, Sansha, Blood EANMs (and a couple of others) are (IIRC) absolutely identical; the idea appears to be to make each better in one sense, be it range, tracking, fitting, cap use...etc.

How that might apply to (for example) the EANMs is an interesting question however.

They may also be talking about T2 mods where the Meta 4 is at least as good, easier to fit and cheaper (see the list thread in Ships and Modules).

I can only assume he was talking about age old modules that don't exist anymore ...
... but that's a slippery slope to walk on.

Like all the old gyrostabs that are of no use anymore, but are still on the market.

Will players get compensated if they are removed?

Questions about questions ... speculation leads nowhere in this case.

Now what is the chance they'll just skip the devblog and release it without details and feedback?

I'll give that 90% and force players to create their own tables.

That would be very sad.

My guess is that they will change the fitting of T1 to like the current Meta 4. Acording to this Screenshot there will only be two variants betwen T1 and T2, one will probably be the old Meta 4, and the other one probably with more AmunitionCargo, fof or something like this.

Am I understanding this right?
They might remove variants of modules with lower cpu needs?

That makes no sense...

Removal or fixing of Defender missiles, and better reason to use different types of ammo so each has a point... For example, nobody today uses Gamma or Microwave crystals anymore.

My read is, it's part of a long-ranged effort to rename modules to names that more closely define what the module does, and to remove duplications, or modules made obsolete (sic) by game changes, or newer modules.

Yes I think that is clear.

What I am wondering is, what then happens to those modules, if you have them in your inventory or fitted on a ship?.

Will they:
a) dissapear (hardly)
b) change name?
c) change stats?
d) or if the obsolete ones stay in game, will they go from marketable to non-marketable? (like e.g. anaconda and python mines)

No what they said was, that during this "tiericide" for modules it can happen that some of the modules will have less types than now (meta 1-4)

i think they mean getting rid of meta 0 named mods, like the garbage in the 'hull upgrades' market group noone uses

so all t1 named mods will be the non-crap meta 1-4

They're changing the way the modules work, so for like lasers there will be one with lower cpu usage than the rest, one with lower powergrid, one with higher rate of fire, one with higher something or other.

basically making each meta a sensible choice depending on what you are doing instead of just using T1/Meta4/T2

Am I reading this correctly? Is the meta Restrained Capacitor Flux Coil module going to be better than the T2 version? That can't be right.

They want to be rid of meta levels entirely. There will only be Tech I, Tech II, Tech III, etc, and N/P Faction.
