Please give us an option to disable the double-click on overview to approach feature. I love using shortcuts to lock, approach, orbit, and so on, and the double-click to approach makes it dangerous as you randomly start burning at the enemy.

(Yes, I lost a ship to this. Yes, I'm mad.)

Click start menu
Open control panel
Select mouse options
Adjust the time between clicks for the system to recognize as a double click

Problem solved.

Double clicks in space send you in the direction you double click, you will only approach if you double click towards the target.

Try to double-click on something in your overview. That's what I've got a problem with, not double-click in space.

Ah, so don't double click there then.

I use a bunch of hotkeys like "X" for lock, "Z" for approach, "C" for orbit, etc. Apparently spamming lock = double-click to approach...

I refer you to my earlier post. Speeding up the required interval between clicks to trigger a double click, along with slowing down your click spamming, will eliminate the issue your having here.

This.

Tools to fix your specific problem have already been added to the game, OP. Use those instead of asking for more dev time.

Desperately trying to protect the sainted Devs from work just because you disagree with an idea is extremely annoying.

Would be easy enough to have the client ignore double clicks when certain shortcut keys are also being pressed, although whether this would interrupt other things..? It is a fairly weird bit of behaviour tbh.

This has nothing to do with disagreeing with an idea. What is happening here is you are being told how to correct the problem yourself, outside of game, but you are refusing to listen because you want someone to do it for you. That is pure carebear mentality, regardless of your allegedly being a PvPer.

Doesn't sound random at all. You double clicked on something, so you started approaching it.

Don't double click next time.

It's always nice to hear from a veteran of elite PVP, FCON pride burns brightest. Quite what me being a massive carebear has to do with the UI remains unclear but feel free to keep sperging Smile

It seems like a really clean idea, are there any arguments against it other than 'don't double click then noob'?

That depends, any arguments for this beyond "code me something, because I'm too lazy to expend any effort to correct the problem myself?" There doesn't need to be any coded fix for this, because the solution is already there. Remember that you are supposed to adapt to EvE, EvE is not supposed to adapt to you.

Disabling double-click is not an option as double-clicking is needed for manual piloting. Double-clicking on the overview is not needed as we have the approach hotkey.

What OP is apparently doing is holding the 'ctrl' key and spam clicking his targets in the overview until it tells him he's locking on. Somehow he thinks sending 10-15 lock requests per server tick will make him lock faster, or something.
